Delta says that if you’re a small business owner and travel for business, “this program is for you.” Unfortunately, the new Delta Business Traveler has launched with very minimal perks, so it might not be for you.

Here’s what the new Delta Business Traveler program offers — and what it doesn’t.

Delta Business Traveler — Program Details

The silver lining is that the new Delta Business Traveler is free to join at this link. It also comes with a few minimal benefits for small business owners who travel for work.

To avoid any confusion up front, we’ll point out that Delta Business Traveler is geared toward small business owners and is different from SkyMiles for Business (formerly SkyBonus), a program designed for big companies with employees who travel for work.

Presently, Delta Business Traveler is only open to U.S. residents. You must be at least 18 years old and must be a SkyMiles member to participate.

What benefits does Delta Business Traveler offer? Unfortunately, the list is short.

Presently, you can get a free 1-month trial of Industrious, the coworking membership; 6 months of complimentary Hertz Five Star status, plus a fast-track opportunity to President’s Circle status; and 3 additional bonus SkyMiles per dollar spent on Delta Stays and Delta Car Rentals. This last benefit only applies through December 31, 2024.

Offering just 3 benefits, aside from promising future offers and letting you earn SkyMiles as normal, isn’t a very impressive list of benefits. The list is even less impressive if you note that none of them is permanent. The Industrious membership offers just 1 free month before costing $99 per month. The Hertz status is only valid for 6 months, and the bonus earnings on hotels and rental cars only last through December.

What will the benefits look like in 2025 after these temporary benefits are exhausted for Delta Business Traveler? That’s anyone’s guess, but the airline will need to offer something to make this program more compelling.

Hot Tip:

If you’re in the market for rental car elite status, you can get rental car elite status through status matches quite easily. You also can get rental car elite status from holding the right credit card. Thus, you may not need to use Delta Business Traveler to make it happen.

Final Thoughts

Delta Business Traveler is here. Unfortunately, it’s not offering much yet. Will that change? Only time will tell. Presently, it has just a few short-term benefits, while the only long-term perk is earning SkyMiles on your flights — something you can already do as a SkyMiles member.
