Most U.S. airlines that operate a daytime route to Europe tend to run those flights to London — it’s the closest major city to the U.S. that warrants substantial traffic, so it fits perfectly within a daytime schedule.

However, as flagged by Ishrion Aviation, Delta Air Lines will be introducing its first daytime flight to Europe from the U.S. by way of Paris. This new daytime flight will depart in the morning from the U.S. and arrive in the late evening in Paris, offering an alternate way to get to Europe and beat jet lag.

New Daytime Route

Delta’s choice of Paris for its daytime flight is a good move considering it partners with Air France for connecting flights. While the arrival time into Paris won’t be good for connections, it does allow passengers to get a full night of sleep at an airport hotel and then connect onward the next day, or head into Paris for a full night of sleep and then hit the ground running with business meetings or touring the next day.

Here is the schedule this new route will operate on:

  • Depart New York (JFK) 8:30 a.m. — Arrive Paris (CDG) 10:00 p.m. (same day)
  • Depart Paris (CDG) 9:30 a.m. — Arrive New York (JFK) 11:50 a.m. (same day)

It’s a relatively short overnight for the plane in Paris, and it allows the plane to be on the ground and ready for an early departure back to the U.S.

This new flight will be operated by a 767 with Delta One business class, Premium Select, and Main Cabin products.

Daytime flights are great for beating jet lag. Back in the U.S., you can get a full night of sleep and then depart New York for Europe, arriving in the late evening. Assuming you don’t sleep on the plane, once you arrive into Europe, you’ll likely be tired due to the late hour and can head right to a hotel to sleep. Red-eye flights that depart in the evening and arrive the next day are horrible for sleep since they tend to be so short, so this is an alternate method to travel to Europe.

Final Thoughts

This new daytime flight to Paris kicks off on March 24, 2024, so you’ll have to wait awhile to take this flight, but when it starts, it will provide a great way to get to Europe that allows you to maximize your sleep and hopefully combat jet lag.
