Starting this fall, Delta will roll out a new cabin interior across its entire fleet.

This refresh will be part of Delta’s centennial anniversary and will introduce new seating materials, lighting, colors, and “decorative motifs” throughout all 4 cabins.

The new design will use a warmer color palette and should feel fresh, clean, and elegant.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Delta’s Interior Refresh

Delta announced it will refresh the design of all 4 of its cabins across its entire fleet.

From updated color palettes to more breathable materials and memory foam cushions, each new aspect has been planned to make the travel experience more enjoyable for passengers.

Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive as they wish. For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open. At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like you’re at a candlelit dinner – making meals more natural and inviting. As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones which are reminiscent of a sunset glow. When it’s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight.

Mood lighting will be installed and designed to adjust to each phase of the flight, helping passengers adjust to their new local time zone.

Colors will be darkened from the lighter blues that Delta is currently known for and will shift to a softer and warmer color scheme with more natural materials.

Lavatories will also receive a refresh with new colors and flooring.

Schedule for Introducing New Cabin Interiors

Despite the fact that Delta still hasn’t completed its last refresh of Delta One seats on its Boeing 767 aircraft, the airline has said that its Boeing 757 will begin flying with refreshed interiors as soon as this fall on domestic and short-haul international routes.

Following that, in early 2025, “a widebody Airbus A350” will debut with the new design on international routes, and additional aircraft will receive the new design over the next few years.

Bottom Line:

Unless you are flying a Delta 757, you likely won’t see this new interior for a few years when flying with the Atlanta-based carrier.

Final Thoughts

Delta will be refreshing its cabin interiors across its entire fleet, starting with the 757 aircraft this fall.

New materials, lighting, cushions, and color palettes aim to promote a more enjoyable and relaxing travel experience for passengers across all cabins on both domestic and international flights.

Delta’s goal is to create a “singular experience” across its diverse fleet and not just a “unique subset”, but only time will tell when that will happen.
