Delta announced its partnership with T-Mobile earlier in 2023, offering free inflight Wi-Fi to travelers. And now, the airline is going one step further by rewarding SkyMiles members who switch their cell phone plan over to T-Mobile.

Here are the details of this promotion — and whether or not the juice is worth the squeeze.

Limited-Time Offer: Earn 10k SkyMiles by Switching to T-Mobile

Delta SkyMiles members who aren’t already T-Mobile customers can take advantage of this “exclusive offer.” You must currently have a U.S.-based phone plan for the past 90 days — and you can check your eligibility here.

Once you enter your SkyMiles number, you can confirm eligibility for the phone number on file (or a different one that’s not already associated with your loyalty account). Upgraded Points team members have reported their offers, including Medallion elite status holders, and they all seem to be targeted with the same 10,000-bonus miles offer.

Only T-Mobile’s Go5G or Go5G Plus are eligible for this offer, which are the phone carrier’s newest unlimited data plans. According to the promotion, you’ll receive the 10,000 miles after your new T-Mobile account has been active for 3 months.

Finally, you can only redeem this promotion through your eligibility link online or by calling 1-800-TMOBILE. If you want to visit a physical T-Mobile store instead, you will not receive the 10,000 bonus SkyMiles.

Hot Tip:

If you have a family plan, you can switch all of the lines to T-Mobile — but only the primary line will receive the 10,000 bonus miles.

Is It Worth It?

10,000 SkyMiles are worth about $120 based on our latest points and miles valuations. Based on that figure alone, this promotion may not be worth the hassle of switching your phone carrier.

However, do note that it’s very common for carriers to try to poach other customers. For instance, T-Mobile is currently targeting AT&T and Verizon customers by offering to “pay off your eligible phone up to $800 via virtual prepaid Mastercard.”

According to the terms of the Delta promotion, you can stack multiple promotions together: “This offer can be combined with other offers from T-Mobile. You can switch your plan using one of T-Mobile’s current offers. After your new T-Mobile account is active for 3 months, you will receive bonus miles with Delta.”

Therefore, while the 10,000-bonus mile offer may not be worth it alone, you’ll want to check out T-Mobile’s current offers to see if you can stack and get extra value from switching your phone plan.

Final Thoughts

Aside from this promotion, T-Mobile offers excellent phone plans, and you can receive free international data with eligible plans. Not to mention, many domestic airlines partner with the service to offer free inflight Wi-Fi to T-Mobile — and this promotion may be exactly what you need to convince you to switch.
