Disney Vacation Club, the timeshare ownership program of the Walt Disney Company, has opened a new member lounge, McKim’s Mile House, in the Magic Kingdom. It’s an exciting new addition to the “Membership Extras” Disney Vacation Club owners receive, and it will provide a welcome respite in the chaos of a day in the theme parks.

Let us show you what’s inside.

What Is a Disney Vacation Club Lounge?

A Disney Vacation Club lounge is a private, members-only area, where you can relax in comfortable seating, enjoy free Wi-Fi, grab a non-alcoholic beverage, and munch on complimentary snacks. McKim’s Mile House is the third Disney Vacation Club lounge at the Walt Disney World Resort. The other 2 lounges are located in Epcot (on top of the Figment ride) and in Disney Springs.

How Can You Access McKim’s Mile House?

Like all Disney Vacation Club lounges, you need to be a “direct” member to enter. If you’re debating a resale contract versus a direct contract, this may sway your decision, as only direct members are eligible for Membership Extras, which include lounge access.

Currently, you need a minimum of 150 direct DVC points to participate in Membership Extras, unless you’re grandfathered in from a previous, lower threshold. You can own as many resale points as you want on top of this, but the key is that you need 150 direct points to get the extras, which also include things like dining and merchandise discounts. If all of your Disney Vacation Club points are resale, or you don’t meet the minimum threshold, you won’t be able to get in.

I happen to own 150 direct points at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, so I was allowed entry.

Hot Tip:

You’re allowed to take 2 guests or your immediate family into the lounge, so not everyone needs to be a DVC member.

Keep in mind that when you enter the Disney Vacation Club lounge, a cast member will scan your digital membership ID, which is internally hardcoded with your membership status, so there’s no way around the minimum direct point requirement.

Location and Entry

McKim’s Mile House is located in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom. If you’re looking at Country Bear Jamboree, look to the left, and you’ll find the building. It’s actually a very non-descript location. There is a DVC sales booth here. To the right of that, you’ll notice a podium where a castmember will check you in.

DVC Magic Kingdom Lounge Line to Enter
Plan on a long line to get in!

If there’s a waitlist, the cast member can add you. On opening day, the employee here told me there were 400 people waiting, though this may have been because of the hype surrounding the new lounge.

If you participate in Membership Magic Beyond, a paid service on top of your DVC ownership, you can get priority entry into the lounge. This service was introduced in early 2025, and while I purchased it, I hadn’t had an opportunity to use it yet. To my surprise, the over-3-hour wait to access the lounge was cut to just over half an hour. If you’re interested in accessing DVC lounges and not having to deal with an extensive waitlist, it appears the Membership Magic Beyond program is really useful!

The Lounge

Roughly half an hour later, I received a text message saying to come back and check in with the cast member at the front door. You’re assigned a seat in the lounge, so you won’t get to pick where you sit. This actually is a benefit, though, since it helps staff move more customers in and out. There’s no time limit for visiting the lounge, but you probably won’t want to spend too much time here as you have a theme park to get to!

DVC Magic Kingdom Lounge Television
A TV on the side of the lounge advertises various DVC offerings.

The lounge is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, but if you’re interested in accessing it you may want to arrive earlier, in case there’s a waitlist. The waiting list may be closed if too many customers sign up.

DVC Magic Kingdom Lounge Variety of Seats
While it’s a small lounge, there’s a variety of seating options.

Inside the lounge, you’ll find about 50 seats scattered around the room in different formations. There are larger and smaller chairs, sofas, and more traditional seats. Some tables feature power outlets, while others are farther away from outlets. You should probably plan on not having an outlet near you, just in case.

You may be carrying a charger to avoid your phone dying during a full day at the park, though it would be nice if the lounge stocked extra charging cords so you didn’t have to carry one around. There is free Wi-Fi if you want to connect your device.

It’s a relatively small lounge, so the wait will depend on how many DVC members visit on the same day as you.

DVC Magic Kingdom Lounge Inside
I was assigned a 2-person table, even as a solo guest.

Inside the lounge, which is themed around the American West, are various upper-level doors named after Disney Imagineers and employees. The lounge is inspired by Disney artist Sam McKim.

There are no restrooms in the lounge, unlike the lounge in Disney Springs. If you have to use the restroom, you’ll need to find the nearest public one outside. In the far corner of the lounge is a refreshment area featuring 2 Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, coffee urns, hot water, and a small selection of packaged snacks, including granola bars and chips. It’s not an extensive selection by any means, but it’s a great “pick me up” when it’s mid-day and the heat is beating down outside.

DVC Magic Kingdom Lounge Snack Area
2 soda machines, coffee, and snacks are available throughout the day.

Perhaps the best amenity of all is the air conditioning, which can be a blessing on a humid Florida afternoon!

Other than that, it’s just a great place to relax and take a break. You won’t find anything too fancy here, as it’s just a quiet place to sit and grab a soda.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a Disney Vacation Club member, be sure to look for McKim’s Mile House the next time you visit Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom. You’ll need a direct DVC contract to enter, and the waitlist may get pretty long, depending on the day. It’s a great place to take a load off of your feet and grab a quick snack before exploring more of the park.
