A new Fairmont Hotels & Resorts property has opened in Long Beach, California, and it has a storied history in the city. Originally announced in 2022 for a 2023 opening, the Fairmont Breakers Long Beach is finally opening its doors.

Let’s take a look at this incredible new property and how you can book a stay!

Long Beach Historic Hotel Opens as a Fairmont

After a multi-million-dollar transformation, Fairmont Breakers Long Beach has opened south of Los Angeles. The historic hotel originally opened in the 1920s. It has hosted esteemed guests, such as the actress Elizabeth Taylor and the baseball pitcher Babe Ruth. Keeping to the hotel’s historic theme, Accor restored features such as the hotel’s original mailbox, which now sits in the lobby.

The hotel has 185 guest rooms, including 22 suites, ranging from 287 to 790 square feet.

Amenities include a spa and rooftop bar — the only ones in the city — a pool terrace, and 2 restaurants. The hotel is approximately 6 miles from Long Beach Airport (LGB) and 25 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

“With the highly anticipated debut of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not just bringing a piece of history back to life, but together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach,” said Omer Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Fairmont Breakers becomes the 89th branded hotel globally. Accor says another 30 are in the pipeline in destinations like Prague, Tokyo, and New Orleans. One of Accor’s most exclusive brands, Fairmont has an impressive presence in California, with hotels in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

Fairmont Breakers Long Beach will participate in the ALL – Accor Live Limitless program. That means you can earn and redeem points during your trip. You can redeem Accor points at any participating property when using 2,000 points for every 40€ (roughly $42) you want to shave off your bill. If you’re running low on Accor points, you can transfer from Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, and Citi ThankYou Rewards.

If you choose to book using cash, rates start at around $440 per night for a standard king room next spring.

Hot Tip:

Accor is also running several interesting promotions for the hotel. The welcome offer includes 10% off room rates, breakfast for 2, a $150 dining credit, discounts on spa treatments, and space-available upgrades.

Final Thoughts

This is pretty exciting news from Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. It has opened an ultra-swanky hotel in the heart of Long Beach, which is world-famous for its dining and beaches. Rates here aren’t too shabby, either, and the welcome offer can save you even more money!
