Fiji Airways is the newest member of the Oneworld alliance as of March 31, 2025.

Additionally, the Fijian national flag carrier will join the American Airlines AAdvantage program as of April 1, 2025.

“Travel is better as an AAdvantage member, and American extends a very warm welcome to Fiji Airways customers joining the program,” said Anmol Bhargava, senior vice president of alliances at American Airlines.

Let’s take a look at what today’s Oneworld and AAdvantage news could mean for you.

Fiji Airways Will Adopt American’s AAdvantage Program From April 1

As of April 1, 2025, American Airlines and Fiji Airways frequent flyers will be able to enjoy reciprocal benefits when flying with the other airline.

Frequent flyers of other Oneworld airlines, such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, and Qantas, will also enjoy reciprocal benefits when flying Fiji Airways.

“The introduction of Fiji Airways marks an important strategic step for our alliance as we connect even more people, places, and experiences than ever before,” said Nat Piper, Oneworld CEO.

New perks and benefits for AAdvantage and Oneworld member airline elites when flying Fiji Airways include priority check-in and boarding, complimentary baggage allowance, preferred seats, and more.

Not only that, but AAdvantage members will also be able to redeem and earn AAdvantage miles on Fiji Airways flights.

This is a particularly exciting development for AAdvantage members as Fiji Airways is the only airline that operates nonstop service between Fiji and the U.S.

Hot Tip:

Frequent flyers might consider adding an American Airlines credit card to their wallet for bonus miles earning and additional perks and benefits when flying with both carriers.

Flying Fiji Airways From the U.S. to Fiji and Beyond

Flying Fiji Airways is one of the best ways to get to the South Pacific with points and miles.

Routes to North America include nonstop services from Nadi (NAN) — the airline’s hub airport on Fiji’s largest island — to the following cities:

Fiji Airways operates nonstop flights to 25 destinations in 14 countries and territories — a surprisingly large route network, considering it’s a tiny island nation.

As such, AAdvantage members will also be able to redeem miles on Fiji Airways services to off-the-beaten-track islands in the South Pacific, such as Kiribati, Samoa, and Tuvalu, as well as Fiji’s smaller islands.

Final Thoughts

As of April 1, 2025, when Fiji Airways officially joins the program, AAdvantage members will have greater access to Fiji and the South Pacific.

This is also great news for frequent flyers of all Oneworld member airlines who’ll now be able to enjoy perks and benefits when flying Fiji Airways.
