For frequent travelers who have a preferred airline, co-branded airline credit cards can provide a range of benefits when flying with their favorite airline.

Among the many benefits offered by airline co-branded credit cards are complimentary checked baggage. This isn’t always the case, though. Ultra-low-cost airlines like Spirit still charge you for checked baggage, even if you have one of their cards.

There’s some great news for Frontier flyers who happen to have the airline’s co-branded card. Effective immediately, primary cardmembers of the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard® will now enjoy the benefit of 2 complimentary checked bags on all Frontier Airlines-operated flights.

Let’s dive into the details.

Frontier Cardholders To Receive 2 Free Checked Bags

Starting today, ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is offering a valuable new benefit on the Frontier Airlines World card: 2 free checked bags on all Frontier Airlines-operated flights.

“Our cardmembers spoke, and we listened. With the introduction of free checked bags, we’re elevating the travel experience for FRONTIER Airlines World Mastercard cardmembers,” said Bobby Schroeter, chief commercial officer at Frontier Airlines. “This new benefit, combined with existing perks like Instant Elite Gold Status and miles that never expire, makes our card a must-have for any traveler looking to maximize value and convenience on every flight.”

On average, non-cardholders pay between $47 and $63 to check a bag with Frontier during the booking process (the cheapest time to add checked bags). A second checked bag costs between $67 and $86 per passenger. Checked bag prices increase if paid after booking.

The checked baggage rates vary depending on the route, but you may end up spending more on baggage fees than on the flight itself.

Because Frontier’s profits are largely derived from the low-cost model of charging for ancillary benefits like carry-on and checked luggage and seat assignments, receiving 2 free checked bags might be quite valuable to frequent fliers with the airline.

In addition to being a great way to get free checked bags and earn Frontier elite status, the Frontier Airlines World card also comes with additional benefits that might appeal to Frontier Airlines flyers.

Hot Tip:

If you don’t want to apply for the Frontier Airlines World Card, Frontier offers bundled fares such as The WORKS and The PERKS, which include both a carry-on and checked bag for each passenger and may save you money.

Final Thoughts

It’s always nice to see an ultra-low-cost carrier expand perks for its most loyal customers, rather than reducing benefits. Even though the Frontier Airlines World card has an annual fee ($0 for the first year, then $99 after that), it comes with several valuable benefits, and now cardholders can get 2 checked bags for free. If you fly with Frontier a lot, this card may be an essential investment.
