Frontier Airlines has released a new and easy path to Gold status for Southwest Rapid Rewards members. The best part of this offer? You don’t need to hold any elite status with Southwest — you only need to have a Rapid Rewards account.

Southwest passengers looking for a new preferred airline can now claim Frontier’s Gold status through the end of the year for just $40. Here’s how it works.

Status Match to Frontier Gold for Southwest Flyers

Anyone with a Southwest Rapid Rewards account — regardless of membership level — can match to Frontier Airlines Frontier Miles to claim Gold status through December 31, 2025. There’s a $40 application fee.

To apply, visit frontier.getstatus.com. You’ll need to provide your personal details, your Frontier Miles account number and associated email address, and your Southwest Rapid Rewards number. The application deadline is April 30, 2025.

Benefits of Frontier Gold Status

Typically, earning Frontier’s Gold status requires earning 20,000 points in a calendar year. Elite status points can be earned by spending on a Frontier Airlines credit card and purchasing Frontier flights.

Gold status is the second tier out of 4 in the Frontier Miles program. It provides the following perks:

  • 14x points earning on flights (rather than the standard 10x)
  • Priority customer care
  • 1 free carry-on bag
  • Choosing preferred seats at no cost at booking and premium seats at no cost during check-in
  • Choosing UpFront Plus seats at no cost 4 hours before departure
  • Zone 1 priority boarding
Hot Tip:

Be sure you’ll actually utilize the status you match to on Frontier before applying. There is a non-refundable application fee, so if you aren’t going to use the status at all, you might be throwing away $40. However, if you have 1 round-trip flight with Frontier and will save on fees for baggage and seats, then this could be a great deal.

Final Thoughts

While Frontier is a low-cost airline with limited frills, having status when flying can make the experience much better. Frontier’s limited-time status match is available for all Southwest Rapid Rewards members, regardless of what status they hold with Southwest.

For a $40 application fee, you can enjoy Frontier Gold status through the end of 2025 to see if this might be your new preferred airline. However, you need to apply by April 30.

Even if you aren’t sure you’ll fly with Frontier often, this offer could be worth considering because it opens the door to other airline status match opportunities.
