It’s that time of the year when airlines’ winter schedules get updated.

Hawaiian is the latest airline to announce some changes that include increased frequencies on popular routes from Honolulu (HNL) to Los Angeles, Seattle, and Sydney.

“These schedule enhancements reflect our commitment to providing convenient, comfortable travel during the busiest travel period of the year,” said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Hawaiian’s Increased Winter Frequencies to LAX, SEA, and SYD

The main reason Hawaiian is adding extra flights from Honolulu to Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle (SEA), and Sydney (SYD) is to account for the usual increased demand for travel around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year.

From Friday, November 21, a wide-body Dreamliner will replace the narrow-body Airbus A321neo that operates Hawaiian Airlines’ daily 9 a.m. departure from Honolulu to Seattle. The aircraft departs back to Honolulu at 6 p.m., arriving at 10:13 p.m. This will increase daily capacity on the route by 111 seats.

Also on November 21, Hawaiian will introduce a fifth daily service between Honolulu and Los Angeles. The additional service will be operated until December 1, 2025, by the airline’s Airbus A321neo. The fifth service will then return once again from December 19, 2025, until January 6, 2026.

More flights will also be added on Hawaiian’s route between Honolulu and Sydney. From December 18, 2025, until January 31, 2026, Hawaiian will ramp up from 5 services per week to daily. This coincides with the extended Australian summer holiday period.

And finally, Hawaiian will upgrade the aircraft on its recently announced service between Seattle and Tokyo (NRT) to its flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner. This aircraft features the airline’s Leihōkū Suites — its best business-class product.

Hot Tip:

Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines recently merged as 1 airline under the Alaska Air Group. As well as reciprocal perks and benefits, it’s also possible to earn more miles than ever before, thanks to the merger.

Final Thoughts

The chances of flying Hawaiian Airlines’ flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner this winter just got even better. If you’re traveling between Honolulu and Los Angeles, Seattle, or Sydney, or flying from Seattle to Tokyo Narita, then you’re pretty much guaranteed to fly it.

Checking out this aircraft is high on our priority list, too, since it’s got the airline’s best seats. We’ll be back with a full review once we’ve experienced it for ourselves.
