Travelers looking to maximize their rewards on upcoming car rentals should take note of this promotion from Flying Blue, the joint program of Air France and KLM.

For the next few weeks, you can earn 12x miles, up to 5,000 bonus miles, and save 15% — all at the same time!

Let’s check out the details on the newest promotion from Hertz and Flying Blue.

Hertz and Flying Blue Promotion Details

If you choose to earn Flying Blue miles on your Hertz rentals, you can save up to 15% and earn 12x miles per €1 (roughly $1.09) spent on rentals. Even better, you can earn between 2,000 and 5,000 bonus miles on rentals booked by April 2, as first noticed by AwardWallet. You have until June 21, 2025, to complete eligible rentals for this offer.

The terms of this promotion say you must book your rental car with Hertz by April 2 and complete the rental by June 21, 2025. The number of miles you’ll earn depends on your rental period:

  • 2,000 bonus miles for rentals of 3 to 4 days
  • 3,000 bonus miles for rentals of 5 to 7 days
  • 4,000 bonus miles for rentals of 8 to 10 days
  • 5,000 bonus miles for rentals of 11 to 28 days

You’ll need to rent for at least 3 days to earn any bonus miles, and rentals beyond 28 days won’t qualify for this offer.

There are some important terms you should note:

  • Promotion is valid at participating Hertz locations worldwide.
  • You must add your Flying Blue membership number at the time of reservation and present it at pickup to qualify.
  • Bonus miles will post to your account 6 to 8 weeks after completing the eligible rental.
  • Hertz 24/7 locations aren’t included in this offer.
  • Any changes to your reservations that require requoting the price after April 2, 2025, won’t qualify for bonus miles.
Hot Tip:

We value Flying Blue miles at 1.3 cents apiece. That makes a bonus of 5,000 miles worth $65.

Is It Worth It?

Before you rush to participate in this promotion, understand there’s a tradeoff required. To earn Flying Blue miles on your rental, you have to choose to earn those miles instead of Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points. That means you won’t accrue points toward free rentals or qualifying rentals toward elite status with Hertz.

If you understand that and are OK with it, this program can be valuable. Earning Flying Blue miles on your rental can provide a 14% return on spending, based on our valuation of these miles — and that’s not considering the 15% discount and bonus miles also available for participants.

Plus, getting rental car elite status — with Hertz and with other programs — is relatively simple. You just need to hold a good credit card and then match your status from program to program.

Final Thoughts

For the next few weeks, you can book a rental car with Hertz and earn a ton of miles. You also can save up to 15% on these rentals. The number of bonus miles you’ll earn depends on the length of your rental, but you still can earn 12x miles per €1 spent (roughly $1.09), regardless of how many days you’re renting for, and the discount is always available.

If you’d like to stack all of these offers, you must reserve by April 2 and return the car by June 21, 2025.
