Hilton is reintroducing its Diamond status extension program that lets eligible Hilton Diamond members extend their status even if they didn’t requalify during the prior elite year. This program was paused during the pandemic but returned in 2024 and has again returned in 2025.

However, not just any Hilton Honors member with soon-to-expire Diamond status can use this extension. If you want to extend your status with this program, there are specific requirements you must meet, including the number of years you’ve had Diamond status.

Let’s take a closer look at extending your Hilton elite status with this program and its requirements.

Hilton Diamond Status Extension Program

As mentioned, Hilton’s Diamond extension program has returned for 2025. This program lets eligible Hilton Diamond members who didn’t requalify for status extend it for another year, provided they meet the following requirements:

  • Have Diamond status that expires on March 31, 2025
  • Been Diamond for at least 3 years, but years do not have to be consecutive
  • Stayed at least 250 nights (including both paid and award nights) or earned 500,000+ base points since joining Hilton Honors

Note that this extension can only be requested once per Hilton Honors account. As such, you should only apply for it if your Hilton Diamond status is expiring but you have plans to use its benefits this year. Otherwise, save your status extension for another year when you can use its benefits.

If you plan to use this extension, head to Hilton’s Diamond status extension page and click the “request a reminder” button in the middle of the page. Hilton will remind you to enroll when the program is open for requests. This should happen before your status expires at the end of March.

Note that earning Hilton Diamond status normally requires 60 nights and has benefits like space-available room upgrades (including suites), a 100% points-earning bonus on paid stays, and lounge access, among other benefits. Plus, all Hilton elites are eligible for a free fifth night on award stays.

Hot Tip:

Don’t have Hilton status? It’s included with Hilton’s suite of credit cards. You can even get Diamond status automatically just from having a credit card in your wallet.

Final Thoughts

Seeing the Hilton status extension program return for Diamond elites is great. It’s useful when you don’t travel enough to keep status — for example, if you just had a child or changed jobs. But remember, you can only use this benefit once, so only apply when you know you’ll stay with Hilton enough to enjoy the perks.
