This week in hotel news: Hyatt’s Unbound Collection makes its Thailand debut, 16 Palisociety boutique hotels are joining Marriott Bonvoy, and Marriott has launched an AI-powered search tool for its nearly 283 million members.

New Hotel Openings

The Barai Hua Hin, Thailand — Hyatt Unbound Collection

The Barai Hua Hin has become the first Unbound Collection property in Thailand, giving World of Hyatt members a new luxury wellness destination on the Gulf of Thailand coast. The resort is built around an acclaimed spa, multiple pools, and fine dining.

As a Category 5 property, award nights cost between 15,000 and 35,000 points per night. Cash rates start at $282.

Hilton Boston Back Bay, Massachusetts — Hilton

The 401-room Hilton Boston Back Bay has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation. It now sports a redesigned lobby with marble finishes, walnut millwork, and copper accents, plus a new restaurant, 40 Dalton Kitchen & Bar. The fitness center has expanded to 3,500 square feet — the largest hotel gym in Back Bay. Event space covers 15,000 square feet across 13 venues, with a new 2,500-square-foot space, The Commonwealth, arriving this summer.

Rates start at $218 per night or 63,000 Hilton Honors points.

Ruby Frida, Sweden — IHG

IHG’s Ruby Hotels brand has opened in Stockholm with the Ruby Frida. The brand’s playbook — design-forward rooms, social bars, prime urban locations — is a natural fit for the city.

Novotel St Kilda, Australia — Accor

Accor has opened the Novotel St Kilda, adding a full-service property in one of Melbourne’s most popular beachside neighborhoods.

Motto by Hilton Recife Antigo, Brazil — Hilton

Motto by Hilton Recife has opened in the historic Antigo district, bringing its microhotel lifestyle concept to one of Brazil’s most culturally rich coastal cities. Motto is built around compact rooms and communal social spaces.

Future Hotels

Marriott’s Design Hotels Gaining 16 Properties

Design Hotels has signed 16 Palisociety properties across 9 U.S. markets — the largest portfolio addition in the brand’s 30-year history. The 1,000-plus-key collection includes Palihouse, Palihotel, Le Petit Pali, and ARRIVE by Palisociety locations spanning Laguna Beach, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Palm Springs, California; San Francisco; Seattle; and West Hollywood, California, among others. All properties are set to join Marriott Bonvoy in the coming months.

Luxury Marriotts in India and Pakistan

Marriott will be developing 3 new properties across Nepal and India. The Ritz-Carlton Kathmandu marks the brand’s debut in Nepal with 150 rooms and 5 dining venues, The Westin Kathmandu brings 150 rooms with a wellness focus, and JW Marriott Hotel Siliguri adds 150 rooms at the gateway to northeast India. All 3 are expected to open in 2031.

Hotel Indigo Stockholm

IHG has signed a deal to bring Hotel Indigo to Stockholm. The lifestyle brand tailors each property to its surrounding neighborhood, so expect a distinctly Stockholm look and feel when it opens.

voco Udaipur, India

IHG has signed a voco in Udaipurone of Rajasthan’s most sought-after destinations, known for its palaces, lakes, and concentration of luxury hotels.

Other Hotel News

  • Marriott has launched Ask Bonvoy in beta, a conversational AI search tool on Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy app that lets members find hotels using natural language. A full global rollout is planned for later this year.
  • Sandals and Beaches Resorts have replaced Sandals Select Rewards with Island Insiders Club, effective July 1, 2026. The new 7-tier program adds a room upgrade hotline, a dedicated VIP concierge for upper-tier members, and a complimentary 7-night stay after every 70 paid nights. Current status rolls over automatically.
  • Hilton Reykjavik Nordica is leaving the Hilton portfolio on September 1, 2026; book now to earn or burn Hilton Honors points there.
  • IHG has set a global minimum check-in age of 18 across its properties.
  • Hilton has signed deals to add more than 2,000 Hilton Garden Inn rooms across China, continuing the brand’s push through Asia Pacific.

Final Thoughts

Between new openings across 4 continents, a Bonvoy boutique hotel surge, and an AI tool that could change how hundreds of millions of travelers search for stays, this was a week worth paying attention to. We’ll keep an eye on how the Ask Bonvoy rollout goes and when those Palisociety properties actually join Bonvoy.
