The month of October ended on a positive note in the hotel industry. This past week saw a flurry of hotel signings, announcements, and openings in destinations such as California, Costa Rica, and Saudi Arabia.

The Ava Hotel Paso Robles, Curio Collection by Hilton, California

The Ava Hotel Paso Robles, Curio Collection by Hilton, has opened in the heart of California’s Wine Country, boasting 151 guest rooms and suites.

Amenities include 4 restaurants, including the county’s largest rooftop venue, a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and pet-friendly rooms. The hotel’s location gives guests easy access to more than 200 tasting rooms and wineries, plus other attractions like shopping and dining.

JO&JOE Auckland, New Zealand

If you aren’t familiar, Accor’s JO&JOE brand is a hybrid of a hotel and a hostel, offering affordable rooms and fun amenities. The brand just opened a new property, JO&JOE Auckland, with 73 rooms

Room types include a private double or twin room and dormitory-style accommodation with bunk beds. Amenities include a restaurant, a bar, and a rooftop.

The Mecklen Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, North Carolina

The Mecklen Hotel, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, has officially opened in Queen City with 178 guest rooms. Amenities include a fitness center, a lounge and bar, a gift shop, and a convenience store.

The Mecklen Hotel is conveniently located minutes from attractions such as the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte Motor Speedway, PNC Music Pavilion, and Concord Mills, making it an ideal destination for both personal and business travel. Plus, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is just 20 minutes away by car.

Swissôtel Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Now here’s something we don’t see often: a new hotel opening in Uzbekistan. The 5-star Swissôtel Tashkent has opened in the Uzbek capital with 182 guest rooms, suites, and apartments.

Amenities include a pool, a gym and yoga space, a spa with private hammams, a Swiss-Uzbek restaurant, and more. The hotel is an 18-minute drive from Tashkent International Airport (TAS) and is located near several metro stations.

Santa Lucia Jungle Hacienda, Autograph Collection, Costa Rica (December 2025)

Santa Lucia Jungle Hacienda, Autograph Collection, will start accepting reservations beginning in December.

Located along the base of Carara National Park and along the Tárcoles River, this remote hideaway offers 87 guest rooms in various configurations. Amenities include several restaurants, a spa, an adventure center, a fitness center, and a swimming pool

The resort is just 90 minutes by car from San Jose Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Rates start from $249 per night or about 33,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide, Australia (2026)

Adelaide’s Mayfair Hotel will rebrand as the Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide next year, IHG announced this week. 

Initially built in 1934 and transformed into a luxury hotel in 2015, the upcoming Kimpton Mayfair Adelaide will have 170 guest rooms. IHG will begin managing the hotel in December, and it will undergo renovations before being rebranded in late 2026. 

Conrad Riyadh Laysen Valley, Saudi Arabia (2026)

Conrad Riyadh Laysen Valley is the brand’s debut in the Saudi capital. The hotel, which will have 170 guest rooms, is expected to open sometime in 2026. When it opens, the property will feature an indoor pool, a fitness center, a spa, meeting spaces, 2 restaurants, and a lobby lounge.

The Ascent Park City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, Utah (December 2026)

Hilton’s Tapestry Collection brand is planting its flag in Utah. The Ascent Park City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, will become the brand’s debut in the Beehive State when it opens in December 2026. 

The hotel will feature 120 guest rooms, each equipped with a fireplace and a balcony, offering views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Amenities will include a restaurant, a heated outdoor pool and hot tub, a fitness center, and Ski Butler service.

Mama Shelter Val Thorens, France (2027)

Ennismore’s Mama Shelter brand will open in the French Alps in 2027. Mama Shelter Van Thorens will be located in Europe’s highest ski destination, offering 148 guest rooms.

The resort will feature a restaurant with a panoramic terrace, a bar, a karaoke room, and a Ski Lounge. Like many resorts in the Alps, this one will also feature an ultra-luxury spa, which will have a sauna, hammam, treatment rooms, a fitness center, and an indoor pool.

Hilton Will Double Its Presence in Oman in 2026

Hilton said this week that it would double its presence in Oman, with 3 new hotels opening in January. The 3 hotels will come under the Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and DoubleTree by Hilton brands. Here’s a look at what’s coming:

  • Al Husn Hotel Muscat: This hotel will be rebranded as a Waldorf Astoria. The hotel will have 180 guest rooms and suites. Amenities will include 5 dining options, the famed Waldorf Astoria Spa, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and exclusive access to a private beach cove.
  • Hilton Muscat Al Bandar: This hotel will have 198 guest rooms and suites. Amenities will include 6 dining options, a spa, a fitness center, tennis facilities, and more.
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Muscat Al Waha: The family-friendly hotel will have 302 guest rooms and suites. The hotel will have 4 restaurants, a lazy river, a kids’ club, a spa, and a private beach.

Final Thoughts

October ended on a positive note in the hotel world. This week, we saw the opening or announcement of several ultra-luxury hotels, ranging from a 5-star hotel in Uzbekistan to a luxury resort set to open soon in Costa Rica.
