Hyatt announced plans for the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Puerto Rico. This new property is scheduled to open in 2025 and will be in the popular Isla Verde neighborhood, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the beach.

Let’s dive into the details of the new Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde.

Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde — Details

Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde will be located at the site of the former Verdanza Hotel. True to the Hyatt Centric brand, this new hotel is ideally located — it’s just 1 block from Isla Verde Beach and a 5-minute drive to San Juan’s international airport.

A 25-million-dollar renovation project is underway to update all of the guest rooms, suites, and public spaces, giving the new hotel a fresh Puerto Rico-inspired style.

Once completed, the property will feature 223 guest rooms, an open-air beer garden, a coffee shop, a fitness center, and a resort-style pool deck with a restaurant and bar.

Guests will also be given complimentary access to Vivo Beach Club, a private, ocean-front beach club with a pool, 3 restaurants, 4 bars, an outdoor concert space, and Ocean Lab Brewing Co. micro-brewery.

This new Hyatt Centric location will open in 2025.

Booking Hyatt Hotels in Puerto Rico

Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde will join a number of properties offered on the island by the major chain, including Hyatt Place San Juan, Hyatt House San Juan, Hyatt Place Bayamon, Hyatt Place Manati, and Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico.

We love booking Hyatt hotels with points because it’s easy to earn World of Hyatt points. In addition to racking up points by staying at Hyatt hotels and spending on Hyatt credit cards, you can also transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards.

We don’t know yet what category the Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde will be. The other Hyatt hotels in Puerto Rico range from Category 2 to 5, so we expect this new property to land somewhere around Category 4, which would cost between 12,000 and 18,000 points per night.

Hot Tip:

If the new Hyatt Centric San Juan Isla Verde ends up as a Category 4 (or lower), it could be a great option for those Category 1-4 free night certificates you may have.

Final Thoughts

The Hyatt Centric brand will debut in Puerto Rico in 2025, ideally located in the Isla Verde neighborhood of San Juan.

This hotel, located just 1 block from the beach, will be close to shops and restaurants. There will be an open-air beer garden, coffee shop, fitness center, and resort-style pool area. Guests will also have access to the nearby Vivo Beach Club for beach access along with an additional pool and restaurants.
