For years, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress has been one of the most popular off-site hotels for Walt Disney World visitors — especially among Hyatt loyalists and points travelers.

Now, the Orlando resort has added another notable distinction: It’s officially been designated as a Walt Disney World Gateway Hotel. This comes shortly after the property moved up to Category 5 in the World of Hyatt program.

Here’s what travelers should know about the new designation — and what it means for your next Disney trip.

Disney Gives Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Official Partner Hotel Status

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando is a property many World of Hyatt loyalists and Disney goers are familiar with, as it’s located less than a mile from Walt Disney World Resort and offers extensive amenities and relatively strong points value.

Now, the property could become even more popular among Disney travelers after officially joining Disney’s Walt Disney World Gateway Hotels program — a move that comes just as the resort recently increased from Category 4 to Category 5 following Hyatt’s latest award chart changes.

The designation typically includes perks such as free transportation to Disney parks, vacation planning assistance, and access to select Disney ticket packages. While it’s still not the same experience as staying at a Disney-owned hotel, the added partnership makes the resort feel even more connected to Disney — especially for travelers who want to stay close to the parks without paying Disney resort prices.

“We are thrilled to work alongside such a fantastic team with this new relationship, infusing the magic of a Walt Disney World vacation with the unforgettable experiences that can be found throughout Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress for families,” said Eric Watkins, Director of Travel Industry Sales and Marketing for Disney Destinations.

Ultimately, for future Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress guests, this new designation means an easier and more seamless Disney trip while still staying extremely close to the parks.

Hot Tip:

I’ve personally used Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress as my home base for Disney family vacations more than a dozen times, and it continues to strike a great balance between convenience and resort-style amenities. While award rates are now higher after the move to Category 5, these new Disney perks could help offset some of that sting for travelers deciding whether to stay on or off Disney property.

Final Thoughts

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress remains one of the best hotel options near Walt Disney World. That’s especially true for points and miles travelers. Between the exceptional location, resort-style amenities, and now official Disney Gateway Hotel status, the property might be even more appealing than ever — albeit at higher award pricing.
