Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

It’s very rare that airlines offer discounted airfare, but for a limited time, you can purchase gift cards for travel on Iberia Airlines at up to 10% off. Depending on your travels, this could save you a significant amount of money. This promotion only runs for a limited amount of time, so you’ll want to purchase sooner rather than later.

The Promotion

For this offer, you’d need to purchase an Iberia gift card, which you can then use to travel on Iberia and, in some cases, partner airlines.

Here are the discounts you’d receive:

  • Purchase a $50 gift card for $47.50 (5% discount)
  • Purchase a $100 gift card for $94 (6% discount)
  • Purchase a $300 gift card for $276 (8% discount)
  • Purchase a $500 gift card for $450 (10% discount)

This offer ends on December 26, 2024.

You receive a maximum 10% discount when you purchase a $500 gift card for $450. Each card is valid for up to 1 year from the date of purchase. You can use the card as many times as you want until you use up the balance.

While Iberia has run this type of sale before, the highest offered has been 15% off, so you’ll need to decide whether purchasing now is a good time for you.

To use the card, visit Iberia’s website. You can book either a nonstop flight on Iberia, Iberia Express, or Air Nostrum flights, or a set of flights involving a connection, so long as 1 of the flights is operated by Iberia. Theoretically, this means you could purchase a flight on the Iberia website from Barcelona (BCN) to Madrid (MAD) on Iberia and then Madrid (MAD) to New York (JFK) on American and still utilize the discounted gift card.

Hot Tip:

Iberia does seem to process the transaction directly on its website, which means you may want to use a card that earns you bonus miles for purchasing airfare, although your mileage may vary as to whether this purchase codes directly with the airline.

Keep in mind that you can also use these gift cards for friends or family, so they don’t just need to be used on friends and family.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for discounted airfare and have upcoming travel plans on Iberia, you may wish to consider purchasing these discounted gift cards. To take advantage of this offer, it’s really only worthwhile if you max out the discount at 10% by purchasing at least $500 in cards.
