Icelandair has been steadily adding new nonstop routes to the United States over the last few years, thanks to a boom in tourism in its home country and the development of its capital, Reykjavik, as a hub connecting travelers to many points across Europe.

Now, the carrier is adding yet another U.S. city to its route map: Miami, Florida. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about this exciting new route.

Nonstop Miami-Reykjavik Flights Launching in October

From October 25, 2025, Icelandair will begin nonstop service from its hub in Reykjavik (KEF) to Miami (MIA). The route will operate 3 times per week on a seasonal basis, with its first season of operations ending in March of 2026.

Flights departing Miami will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, according to the following schedule:

  • Depart (MIA) at 6:15 p.m. and arrive in Reykjavik (KEF) at 5:55 a.m. (+1)

Meanwhile, flights departing Reykjavik will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with the following schedule:

  • Depart Reykjavik (KEF) at 5:15 p.m. and arrive in Miami (MIA) at 8:55 p.m.

This new route, which is on the longer side at around 8 hours, will utilize Icelandair’s brand-new Airbus A321LR aircraft. This aircraft also represents the first Airbus aircraft to join the Icelandair fleet in the airline’s history. These jets feature 22 business-class seats and 165 economy seats — a total of 187 seats.

“We are thrilled to be opening a new gateway from Europe to sunny Florida via Iceland and from Miami to Iceland and beyond. With the new long-range and fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft we are able to add new and exciting destinations and Miami is a great addition. Miami will fit well into our route network, with convenient connections via Iceland to our 34 destinations in Europe,” said Bogi Nils Bogason,d Icelandair’s president and CEO.

Miami will become Icelandair’s second destination in Florida, joining Orlando (MCO), and the airline’s 19th North American gateway. Plus, Icelandair is developing a partnership with Southwest Airlines, which should further boost connections between the U.S. and Europe in the near future.

Hot Tip:

Read up on Icelandair’s baggage policies and fees (and ways to cover the expenses) if you have a flight coming up with the airline.

Final Thoughts

Icelandair continues its aggressive expansion in North America with the addition of Miami, Florida, as its latest destination on the continent. The airline and the country as a whole show no signs of slowing down as tourism continues to grow and the carrier adds new aircraft to open up new routes.

We’re looking forward to seeing where Icelandair will fly next.
