We don’t often think of hotels with ski and snowboard passes, but that’s a combination available right now when you renew your Ikon Pass.

Alterra Mountain Company, the issuer of Ikon Pass, is doing something novel this year, offering Renewal Rewards to members who renew their season pass. Customers who renew their passes can choose from 5 offers right now, including a free night at a Marriott hotel.

Here’s how it works.

Ikon Pass Renewal Rewards for 2026-2027 Season

A few season pass types dominate the ski and snowboard world, and Ikon Pass is a giant in the industry. This year, the company is offering an interesting perk: Renewal Rewards. These choice benefits are meant to incentivize 2025-2026 pass holders to renew for the 2026-2027 season, as first noticed by AwardWallet.

While the 5 options for Renewal Rewards mostly focus on ski-related options, a travel-related option caught our attention. That option is a Marriott Bonvoy Free Night Certificate that can be used at hotels worldwide — a simple way to get real value beyond the slopes.

Choices for Renewal Rewards include:

  • $25 monthly credits for food and beverage purchases or equipment rentals
  • Up to $100 off Backcountry.com plus a Premium membership
  • A Marriott Free Night Award (worth up to 25,000 points)
  • Up to 2 free ski rental days from Ski Butlers
  • $50 off your pass renewal

The ski- and snowboard-related options have a mostly fixed value. The option for a Marriott free night can be worth a varied amount, depending on how you use it — and it’s the one we recommend.

If you choose the Marriott option, there are some terms to note:

  • Available only with the 2026-2027 Ikon Pass.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be a U.S. or Canada resident.
  • Redemption details will be deposited in your account profile starting on June 1, 2026.
  • Offer valid through July 31, 2026.

How To Use a Marriott Free Night Certificate

While a free night worth up to 25,000 points might give you 25,000 reasons to be excited, it’s worth understanding that the Marriott Bonvoy program uses dynamic pricing and that its top hotels cost well over 100,000 points per night. Thus, this 25,000-point award won’t get you into a Ritz-Carlton but could be enough for a modest hotel near your next ski destination.

Moreover, you can add up to 25,000 points to your free night award to redeem for higher value, assuming you have more points in your Marriott account to work with. That would let you book a property costing up to 50,000 points per night, unlocking more (and nicer) options for your reservation.

Final Thoughts

Those with the Ikon Pass have 5 options for Renewal Rewards when renewing their pass for the 2026-2027 season.

While there are 4 ski-focused options, the unexpected option is a Free Night Certificate from Marriott Bonvoy, worth up to 25,000 and potentially giving you a few hundred dollars in value when redeeming for a hotel night on your next vacation, whether that’s a ski trip or not.
