JetBlue is adding nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Tallahassee (TLH) — the state’s capital city and home to Florida State University — starting January 2024.
The new route is just a small step toward JetBlue’s wider project to operate more than 250 flights per day operating from its Florida hub airport of Fort Lauderdale (FLL) by 2027 — in tandem with the pending Spirit merger.
Here’s what we know so far.
JetBlue Adds Tallahassee to Its Route Network
The addition of a brand new connection between Tallahassee and JetBlue’s growing base at Fort Lauderdale is a testament to the airline’s commitment to the state of Florida. While it’s still great news for Tallahassee locals and Florida State University students that JetBlue is coming to town, the 393-mile hop from Florida’s capital into Fort Lauderdale is currently served 6x weekly by Silver Airways.
“As a customer-centric alternative to the high-fare legacy airline that dominates South Florida, we have achieved rapid growth in Fort Lauderdale and are ready to turbocharge further expansion once we combine with Spirit,” said Robin Hayes, CEO at JetBlue.
When the route launches in January 2024 at long last, the real exciting news for travelers here is the newfound connection possibilities to 16 destinations in the Caribbean, as well as Central and Southern America from JetBlue’s Fort Lauderdale hub. JetBlue also offers nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to more than 20 destinations around the U.S.
JetBlue’s Future Routes From Fort Lauderdale
If the Spirit merger reaches regulatory approval, the new Tallahassee to Fort Lauderdale route is just the tip of the iceberg for JetBlue.
JetBlue has also hinted at launching nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Europe down the line, as well as adding exciting new destinations like Liberia, Costa Rica; Savannah, Georgia; Minneapolis, Minnesota and beyond.
“We applaud JetBlue’s plans to offer new nonstop jet service from FLL to Tallahassee next January, an option long sought after for many years, and we are encouraged by their support for FLL’s Master Plan,” said Mark Gale, CEO and director of aviation at Fort Lauderdale Airport.
JetBlue has plans to expand its capacity from Fort Lauderdale in a big way, with plans to operate more than 250 flights per day by 2027. As part of its growth, Tallahassee will welcome a brand-new nonstop service bringing with it a wealth of new travel possibilities for those living in and around the state capital. We’ll keep you updated on any new JetBlue routes from Fort Lauderdale!
