JSX is set to shake up regional travel in Southern California by launching turboprop service from Santa Monica, California, to Las Vegas. The move combines JSX’s signature upscale “hop-on” experience with a community-minded mission — offering a fast, low-noise alternative for local residents while resuming scheduled air service to the regional airport.

New JSX Service from Santa Monica to Las Vegas

Starting December 19, 2025, JSX will operate daily flights between Santa Monica (SMO) and Las Vegas (LAS) aboard its ATR 42-600 turboprop fleet. The carrier is positioning this as a game-changing option for travelers frustrated by crowded major airports. Check-in takes just 20 minutes from curb to aircraft, and fares include 2 checked bags, even for oversized items like golf bags and ski gear.

The ATR offers a 30-seat cabin with spacious, business class legroom, complimentary cocktails, and in-seat device charging. JSX also plans to roll out Starlink Wi-Fi across its ATR fleet in early 2026 (pending certification), adding a modern connectivity touch to the experience.

By basing operations at Santa Monica Airport, JSX not only delivers convenience for locals but also supports the city’s long-term economic development goals. The quieter, more efficient turboprop aligns with SMO’s sustainability focus, and both JSX and local authorities hope inbound tourist traffic from Las Vegas could funnel more spending into neighborhood businesses.

Flights on the new SMO-LAS route start at $149 for a one-way ticket in the Hop On fare class. The more expensive All In fare starts at $486; it includes changes without a fee, cancellations for a refund, and complimentary seat selection.

About JSX and Its New ATR 42-600

JSX, founded in 2016, operates as a public charter “hop-on” carrier. It has many of the comforts of private aviation, including no long check-in lines, planeside baggage retrieval, and a relaxed terminal experience.

At the Paris Air Show in 2025, JSX announced a lease of 2 ATR 42-600 turboprops configured with 30 premium seats in ATR’s HighLine cabin. These aircraft will feature business-class-style legroom, gourmet snacks, and cocktails, as well as plans for Starlink high-speed internet.

This isn’t just a small fleet move. JSX has signed a Letter of Intent for up to 25 additional ATR-600 aircraft, including either ATR 42-600s or larger ATR 72-600s, both in 30-seat layouts. According to JSX, the turboprop strategy could unlock access to more than 1,000 new airports in the U.S., many of which are underserved by traditional airlines.

Final Thoughts

The launch of JSX’s ATR service from Santa Monica marks a bold step in regional air travel. It combines convenience, comfort, and sustainability — all while promoting local economic growth and minimizing airport noise, a concern that remains for locals.

For travelers, it means skipping the lines and saving time; for Santa Monica, it means more visitor dollars and a greener, quieter aviation option. As JSX scales its turboprop ambitions, this could mark the beginning of a new era in semi-private, neighborhood-based flying.

JSX management has told us the goal is to add service to even more airports that aren’t served by traditional airlines — something JSX is especially primed to deliver with its business model. Santa Monica may be just the beginning.
