MSC Cruises is expanding once again in the U.S., as the cruise line just announced plans for a new home port in Galveston set to open in 2025.

This is great news for U.S.-based cruisers and a big step in MSC’s U.S. market.

Let’s take a look at the details of MSC’s announcement.

MSC’s Newest Home Port: Galveston

European-based MSC Cruises is continuing to expand its operations in the U.S. with the opening of its fourth home port in Galveston, Texas, in 2025.

This move is part of an ongoing expansion in the American market (MSC opened its third port in New York City in 2023), which also includes sailings from Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida.

“We are committed to bringing our newest, largest, most innovative ships to the U.S. and are pleased that MSC Seascape will be more easily accessible to guests in central and western parts of the U.S through Galveston, as well as to our guests internationally via the well-connected international airport hub of Houston.”

Gianni Onorato, CEO, MSC Cruises

Galveston cruises on the MSC Seascape are now available for booking. Customers will find 7-night itineraries, departing on Sundays year-round, with destinations like Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico and Roatan in Honduras, and the first departure is scheduled for November 9, 2025.

The MSC Seascape is especially great for families, with over 7,500 square feet of space dedicated to young travelers. There’s a ROBOTRON robotic arm ride, 2 LEGO rooms for kids from 3 to 11 years old, a teen space, and VR flight and driving simulators.

The ship has 13 pools and water features, including Pirates Cove Aquapark and an aft infinity pool. Additionally, there are 11 dining spots, 19 bars, and hundreds of onboard activities.

MSC Seascape will sail out of Miami until it’s repositioned for its first cruise out of Galveston in 2025.

Bottom Line:

MSC, the third largest cruise brand in the world is continuing to expand to the U.S. market with the announcement of a home port in Galveston, Texas due to open in 2025.

Final Thoughts

MSC Cruises is continuing its expansion in the U.S. with the announcement of a new home port. With plans to start sailing MSC Seascape from Galveston, Texas, beginning in November of 2025, MSC will soon reach a larger segment of the U.S. market.
