Southwest Airlines has just released a lucrative points-earning opportunity for all of its credit cardholders.

This new promotion can be found in your Southwest account, but since it isn’t so obvious, many people probably don’t know these offers exist. You’ll need to register first in order to earn 10x points over the next week — here’s what else you need to know.

Southwest Credit Cardholders Can Earn 10x Points Right Now

To take advantage of this new promotion for Southwest credit cardholders, you must first log in with your Rapid Rewards account details and register.

Once registered, you’ll earn 10x points on eligible Southwest purchases made now through Monday, June 9, at 11:59 p.m. ET, up to a maximum of $500 spent. Eligible purchases include direct spending with Southwest Airlines, which includes flights, inflight purchases, gift cards, Southwest Vacations or Getaways by Southwest purchases, and Southwest packages.

However, Southwest Cruises, Southwest Charters, and Southwest Cargo purchases are specifically excluded from this promotion.

Even if you’re not planning to book any Southwest flights this week, it might be a good idea to purchase a $500 Southwest gift card to take full advantage of this promotion. You’ll earn the maximum 5,000 Rapid Rewards points — which are worth $65 for future flights according to our latest valuations.

However, it gets even better. These points count toward qualifying for the iconic Companion Pass, which gets you BOGO flights with the airline, plus taxes and fees. (As a reminder, you need to earn 135,000 qualifying points or fly 100 qualifying one-way Southwest flights in a single calendar year to score the Southwest Companion Pass.)

It can take up to 8 weeks for these points to post to your account, so you’ll want to plan accordingly if you plan to redeem Rapid Rewards points anytime soon.
