Toronto Pearson stands as Canada’s largest airport in terms of total passenger traffic and offers the most international destinations of any airport in North America.

That is why Qatar Airways has officially launched flights from its hub in Doha to Toronto, making it the airline’s 14th destination in the Americas and second gateway to Canada.

In addition, the airline has surpassed its timeline for outfitting its Boeing 777 aircraft with Starlink — the satellite-based internet service created by SpaceX, the aerospace company established by Elon Musk.

Let’s dive into all the details.

New Nonstop Service Between Toronto and Doha

Starting on December 11, 2024, Qatar Airways is officially offering nonstop flights between Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha. This marks Qatar Airways’ second destination in Canada, following Montreal.

The new service will run 3 times per week to Canada’s largest city on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday with the following schedule:

  • Depart Toronto (YYZ) at 8:00 p.m. and arrive in Doha (DOH) at 4:30 p.m.
  • Depart Doha (DOH) at 8:10 a.m. and arrive in Toronto (YYZ) at 2:15 p.m.

The airline’s Boeing 777-300ER will operate this route, offering 42 Qsuite business-class seats and 312 economy seats.

This new route will make it easier for Canadian travelers to reach popular destinations in Asia and the Middle East while also growing Qatar Airways’ North American network to 14 destinations.

“We are excited for Qatar Airways to begin service at Toronto Pearson. This highly anticipated route from Toronto Pearson unlocks an exciting range of destinations for passengers looking to fly to the Middle East, Asia and Africa,” said Ms. Deborah Flint, Toronto Pearson Chief Executive Officer and President.

Qatar Airways’ recently announced plan to deploy Starlink in-flight Wi-Fi on its Boeing 777 aircraft is progressing faster than anticipated. The carrier aimed to install Starlink on 12 of its Boeing 777 aircraft by the end of 2024, but it has already exceeded that goal with 15 Boeing 777 aircraft now equipped with the rapid internet connectivity service.

The Doha-based carrier is the world’s largest airline to offer complimentary Starlink on board, as well as the first to operate Boeing 777 Starlink-equipped aircraft, providing customers with up to 8,000 entertainment options.

Final Thoughts

Qatar Airways’ new nonstop route to Toronto is a fantastic addition for the city and Canada, especially considering its importance as a key hub for North American travelers.

In even more exciting news, the airline has shared that it now boasts 15 Boeing 777 aircraft outfitted with Starlink in-flight Wi-Fi. This addition is sure to further elevate the carrier’s already stellar reputation as one of the best airlines in the world.
