Royal Air Maroc is making it easier for passengers to stay connected in the air.

The Moroccan airline plans to roll out free Starlink Wi-Fi on 41 aircraft starting in early 2027, becoming the first African carrier to announce plans to introduce the service.

Here’s what we know so far.

Royal Air Maroc, a member of the Oneworld alliance, plans to begin installing Starlink Wi-Fi on 41 aircraft in early 2027.

Even better, the service will be free for members of its Safar Flyer loyalty program. It’s not yet clear whether passengers will need to add their frequent-flyer numbers to their reservations to access the internet, but joining the program is free.

For anyone who’s flown Royal Air Maroc before, this could be a pretty big change. The airline’s planes currently don’t offer Wi-Fi at all, just an intranet service with entertainment offerings, so passengers will soon have a way to stay connected throughout their flights.

And this isn’t just basic Wi-Fi for sending messages or checking emails. Starlink uses satellites in low-Earth orbit to deliver fast, reliable internet. The technology also supports gate-to-gate connectivity, meaning passengers won’t necessarily have to wait until they’re in the air to get online.

Royal Air Maroc has a fleet of roughly 70 aircraft, including Boeing 737s and 787 Dreamliners, as well as smaller regional planes. The airline hasn’t said which aircraft will get Starlink first or how long it will take to complete installations across all 41 planes.

We’re hoping Royal Air Maroc prioritizes its Boeing 787 Dreamliners for the Starlink rollout, giving passengers on the airlines nonstop from several U.S. cities to Casablanca a much better inflight experience on those long transatlantic flights.

Hot Tip:

Royal Air Maroc’s Safar Flyer program is free to join. If you’re planning to fly the airline in 2027 or in the future, it’s worth signing up ahead of time so you can take advantage of complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi once it’s available.

Final Thoughts

Free Wi-Fi is becoming more common across airlines, and Royal Air Maroc is the latest carrier to get on board. With Starlink coming to 41 aircraft starting in early 2027, passengers will eventually have a much easier time staying connected, especially on longer flights.

We’ll have to wait for more details on which planes will get the service first and when the rollout will be finished, but for an airline where Wi-Fi has been nonexistent, this is a big step forward.
