Miami International Airport (MIA) once again has nonstop service to Africa as Royal Air Maroc (RAM) resumed its route to Casablanca (CMN) on April 10, 2022.
This is particularly exciting news as the route wasn’t even a year old before the pandemic put a stop to it back in March 2020.
Here are the details of this exciting new route for Florida.
Royal Air Maroc Provides Florida’s Only Nonstop Service to Africa
Floridians looking to experience the rich culture of Morocco on the northwest coast of Africa can now do so by hopping on a Royal Air Maroc (RAM) flight of around 7 hours.
Initially, the route will operate just twice a week on Fridays and Sundays until May 18 when a third weekly service on Wednesdays will be added.
Miami will be RAM’s third nonstop destination in America joining New York (JFK) and Washington, D.C. (IAD). The airline also offers nonstop service to Montréal (YUL).
Each of the transatlantic routes is operated by the airline’s fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. They comprise business and economy class cabins with a varying number of seats depending on which of the -800 or -900 aircraft is operating on a given day.
Not only is RAM the only airline operating nonstop service to Morocco from the U.S., but it’s also the only Oneworld member to offer any flights at all between the U.S. and the entire continent of Africa.
That means for American Airlines and Oneworld frequent flyers, RAM is the only option for nonstop redemptions to Morocco.
The Moroccan flag carrier also provides the potential to connect to over 20 African destinations, from Nouakchott, Mauritania (KNC) in the northwest to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (FIH) in the center.
Alternatively, both British Airways and Iberia provide the next best Oneworld connectivity to Africa, followed by Qatar Airways — though you’d significantly increase your flight time (and your inflight experience…) by opting for the Doha-based carrier.
Final Thoughts
Royal Air Maroc is providing Florida with its only nonstop service to the continent of Africa.
The new 3-times-weekly service between Miami (MIA) and Casablanca (CMN) provides a host of new travel opportunities for Floridians and Moroccans alike.
