To meet the growing demand, SAS, or Scandinavian Airlines, is adding a new route connecting Copenhagen (CPH) and Seattle (SEA) next summer.

Here’s what you need to know about SAS’s newest summer route to the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle Is the 11th North American Destination for SAS

Beginning May 21, 2025, SAS will operate 5 direct flights weekly between Copenhagen and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) as part of its summer 2025 schedule. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A330.

Resuming service between the 2 cities, 57 years after its inaugural flight, is a significant milestone for SAS.

The Stockholm-based carrier will now operate nonstop flights to 11 North American destinations, expanding global connectivity from Copenhagen Airport, a major international gateway to and from Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

“We are excited to expand our North American network with Seattle,” said Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS. “The route from Copenhagen will provide more travel options for our customers and strengthen the connection between Scandinavia and the Pacific Northwest, a region of growing economic importance with deep Scandinavian roots.”

Bottom Line:

SAS serves the following North American airports: Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), New York (EWR & JFK), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), San Francisco (SFO), Toronto (YYZ), and Washington D.C. (IAD). Seattle (SEA) will be the airline’s 11th U.S. city.

Booking SAS Flights

Flights can now be booked directly through SAS. If you wish to book, flights are available at around $578 round-trip for the inaugural flight in May 2025 and throughout the summer.

As of September 1, 2024, SAS is a SkyTeam Alliance member (formerly a Star Alliance member); therefore, you can redeem partner miles to fly with the airline.

You can now book SAS flights via Flying Blue,  Air France KLM’s loyalty program, and some awards can be booked with Delta SkyMiles, which is all happening now that SAS joined SkyTeam.

Final Thoughts

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) welcomed 50.9 million passengers in 2023, and traffic at Sea-Tac is expected to continue growing.

With reasonable cash rates for a flight that lasts more than 9 hours across the Atlantic — and the opportunity to use points and miles — you’ll have plenty of choices for booking this exciting return of SAS flights between Copenhagen and Seattle after years of suspended service.
