Your summer flights just got a lot more rewarding, as Southwest Airlines is offering up to 20,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points on flights through August 31, 2025. You’ll need to enroll in this promotion first, and the number of points you earn will be based on how many flights you take.

Let’s take a closer look at everything you need to know about this Southwest promotion.

Earn up to 20K Rapid Rewards Points on Flights

The latest promotion will give you up to 20,000 Rapid Rewards points on Southwest Airlines flights booked and flown by 11:59 p.m. CT on August 31, 2025. You must register for this promotion on Southwest’s website before you book your flights.

There are no specific flight destinations required. One-way and round-trip flights should trigger the offer.

Once enrolled, you need to book your flight(s) and travel by 11:59 p.m. CT on August 31, 2025. The number of bonus points you’ll earn depends on how many flights you take:

  • 5,000 bonus points for 1 round-trip or 2 one-way flights
  • 5,000 additional bonus points (for 10,000 total) for 2 round-trip or 4 one-way flights
  • 10,000 additional bonus points (for 20,000 total) for 3 round-trip or 6 one-way flights

You can earn a maximum of 20,000 bonus points from this promotion, and the bonus points do not count toward qualification for A-List or A-List Preferred status. Additionally, you must book directly with Southwest.

This promotion applies to all Southwest fare types, so you’ll earn:

  • Wanna Get Away (Basic): 2x points
  • Wanna Get Away Plus: 6x points
  • Anytime: 10x points
  • Business Select: 14x points

Note that in May 2025, Southwest made significant changes to its loyalty program, including its fares. The “Wanna Get Away” fare is now called the “Basic” fare.

Redemption flights booked using points don’t qualify for this offer, but flights booked with cash, credit cards, vouchers, gift cards, or Cash + Points qualify.

Existing Southwest bookings are not eligible for this promotion, nor are bookings made during the promotion period before registration for the offer. However, the airline doesn’t charge cancellation fees. Check previously booked Southwest flights and see if the price is the same (or lower) than when you booked it. If so, cancel and rebook your existing reservation to earn bonus points for your flights.

Plus, check your Chase Offers to see if you were targeted to save 10% on Southwest Airlines purchases through July 2, 2025.

Hot Tip:

Earn even more points on your Southwest flights when you pay with a credit card that earns bonus rewards on airfare.

Final Thoughts

Southwest’s latest promotion will give you up to 20,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points when you enroll, book your flights, and travel by August 31, 2025.

If you need to book some upcoming Southwest flights, now is a great time to do so. If you have existing Southwest bookings, consider canceling and rebooking them after enrolling in the promotion — so long as the price hasn’t gone up — to earn extra points.
