Rochester (ROC) is set to be the latest airport to welcome service from Spirit Airlines.
The ultra-low-cost carrier has announced flights from the New York State city to Orlando (MCO) and Myrtle Beach (MYR) from June 2022.
“We can’t wait to welcome Rochester area residents onboard our bright, yellow planes and offer them More Go to exciting vacation destinations,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines.
The news comes a week after Spirit and Frontier announced their merger into a mega ultra-low-cost airline.
Let’s take a look at the details of Rochester’s new Spirit routes.
Spirit’s New Flights From Rochester (ROC)
Spirit’s new services to Florida will provide those living in the local area with ultra-low-cost, nonstop service to 2 of the most popular vacation destinations in the U.S.
“Spirit Airlines offers a convenient and affordable way to travel to those 2 popular vacation destinations,” said Adam Bello, County Executive. “We welcome Spirit’s commitment and investment in our community and in the ROC Airport.”
The new 4-times-weekly route to Myrtle Beach (MYR) will be the only nonstop connection to the South Carolina beach destination for those living in the Rochester area. The flight will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The nonstop connection to Orlando (MCO) will be daily, while Spirit’s soon-to-be merger buddy Frontier operates a 3 times weekly service on the route alongside a once-weekly service from ultra-low-cost giant Southwest.
Both routes will inaugurate on June 24, 2022, with the following, family-friendly flight times:
- Depart Rochester (ROC) 1:55 p.m. — Arrive Myrtle Beach (MYR) 3:55 p.m.
- Depart Myrtle Beach (MYR) 11:10 a.m. — Arrive Rochester (ROC) 1:10 p.m.
- Depart Rochester (ROC) 11:26 a.m. — Arrive Myrtle Beach (MYR) 2:09 p.m.
- Depart Orlando (MCO) 8 a.m. — Arrive Rochester (ROC) 10:44 a.m.
Hot Tip: Not only are Spirit’s fares ultra-low, but the airline also has a frequent flyer program — Free Spirit — meaning you can use points to pay for your flights instead of cash. Check out our guide to the many ways you can bolster your stash of Free Spirit points.
Flights will be operated by one of Spirit’s fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft.
Final Thoughts
Summer 2022 is heating up to be when vacations are back (and hopefully for good).
