Is ALL Accor+ Worth It? I Tested It at 15 Hotels

I started 2026 with no Accor status. I didn’t even have an Accor Live Limitless membership.

While planning my year of travel as a digital nomad, I realized that Accor’s presence in some destinations was greater than that of other global chains, such as Hyatt and Marriott.

I also learned about its paid ALL Accor+ memberships and thought I’d try it out. The main attraction was the 30 Status Night awards that would take me from no status to Gold status. In addition to the benefits of Gold status, ALL Accor+ offers its own perks that will bring real value to my travels in 2026.

So, would I recommend a subscription to a friend? Here are my honest thoughts.

I Tested ALL Accor+ at 15 Hotels Around the World

For a while, I actively avoided Accor since I’d had a terrible experience working at the rooftop bar of a Novotel in Barcelona (a story for another day). Fast forward to today, and things look very different.

Eight months into 2026, I’ve now already completed paid stays at 15 Accor hotels across Asia, Europe, and South America. My travels have included the Fairmont Hanoi, Hôtel des Arts Saigon – MGallery Collection, Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo Panama City, Grand Mercure Rio de Janeiro Copacabana, 3 different TRIBE hotels, and a handful of Novotel, Mercure, and ibis properties.

Having stayed at so many properties in a short time, I’ve gained experience with my ALL Accor+ membership and the Accor Live Limitless loyalty program across multiple brands, price points, and countries worldwide.

Here are my thoughts on the membership investment and whether it could work for you, too.

Accor Live Limitless is Accor’s regular loyalty program, which is free, and anyone can sign up. Accor+ is a paid subscription that sits on top of your loyalty account, and the benefits vary by region.

Why I Chose the Explorer Membership

The first decision was which of the 3 subscription types would best suit my travels: the ibis, Voyager, or Explorer.

All memberships come with different levels of perks and benefits that get more valuable as the annual fee increases. Given the extent of my upcoming travel (about 3 months in Asia), the Explorer membership, with its €215 ($246) annual fee, was the best fit. You can also opt to pay with points instead of cash.

I realized while writing this that the perks and benefits of the memberships vary slightly depending on the location where you sign up. My substantial suite of perks was to include:

• 30 Status Nights equal to immediate Gold status
• 2x Stay Plus Nights (2 annual free nights in Asia Pacific)
• Up to 50% off hotel stays with Red Hot Room deals in the Asia Pacific
• 15% off all stays (2 rooms max)
• 30% discount on meals and 15% discount on drinks in the Asia Pacific

I think that’s pretty excellent value for just $246. According to the app, I’ve already saved $367 on stays this year, so I’ve made money back without even factoring in the benefits. In addition to the Explorer perks, the following benefits of Gold status include:

• Upgrades to the next room category
• Welcome amenity
• 48% bonus points on stays
• Welcome drink (which I rarely ever claim)
• Early check-in or late checkout

Compared with the hotel status benefits I get with my U.K.-issued version of the Platinum Card^® from American Express (which costs me $886 a year), it’s a pretty excellent deal. That said, I do enjoy the free breakfast that comes with the automatic Hilton Gold status on the rare occasion I stay at a Hilton. As for Marriott Gold status, it doesn’t offer many tangible benefits for me personally.

My Loyalty Has Been Recognized at Nearly Every Stay

Whether I’ve been checking into an ibis or a Fairmont, I can’t remember a time I haven’t been thanked for my Accor loyalty. Welcome amenities are also more common than not, and I love how they vary by hotel and destination.

A recent Accor hotel experience in Sapporo topped the charts for how well my status was recognized. The lady at check-in thanked me twice for being a Gold member and even showed me a laminated document outlining all the benefits I’d get as a Gold member. I’ve actually since hit Platinum status, which I’ll talk about more later.

Room Upgrades Have Become the Norm

Of my 15 Accor stays, I’ve been upgraded at least 1 category on most stays — without having to ask. At hotels like ibis and some older, simpler Mercure hotels, I’ve often booked the highest-category room anyway. This wasn’t because I was splurging, but because these hotels don’t usually have deluxe categories, let alone suites.

The Grand Mercure Sapporo Odori Park included an upgrade that left a lasting impression. The lady at check-in left out the part about my upgrade to a suite for my 1-night stay! Don’t get too excited — the suites at the Grand Mercure Sapporo Odori Park are in need of a facelift.

The best upgrade I’ve had as a Gold status holder was to a Fairmont Gold room at the Fairmont Hanoi. Not only was the room beautiful, but it also afforded access to the Fairmont Gold lounge, where I could enjoy complimentary Champagne and truly excellent food throughout the day.

The only time I hit an upgrade wall was during a stay at the Novotel Nara in July. It was my second stay as a Platinum status holder, and the hotel had pretty decent-looking suites, so I was hopeful.

Within seconds of arriving, I was thanked for my loyalty. I asked if I’d unlocked an upgrade, to which the check-in agent replied that it was a Japanese school holiday and occupancy was high. As she continued with the admin side of check-in (which always seems to take a while in Japan), I quickly checked the Accor app and saw that suites were available to book during my stay. I politely mentioned this, but was told, “Novotel doesn’t upgrade to suites.”

Aside from the restrictive upgrade policy, the hotel’s amenities made me feel so at home that I extended my stay. After building up a rapport with the hotel staff, I was upgraded to an Executive Superior Room (basically a suite) on my second stay.

I must also add that Makoto Kaida, the hotel’s general manager, is a lovely human being and a credit to the Accor brand.

Benefits Have More Than Paid for the Membership

One of the most valuable perks of my ALL Accor+ Explorer subscription is the Red Hot Room discounts. This applies only to select hotel stays across Asia Pacific and offers up to 50% off. The best example I’ve come across was being offered 30% off when booking a 2-night stay at the 5-star Mondrian Seoul Itaewon.

The 2 Stay Plus nights also saved me a chunk of money. I used them both at 5-star properties in Vietnam — the Hôtel des Arts Saigon – MGallery Collection and the Fairmont Hanoi — saving around $350.

I Prefer Accor’s Fixed-Value Points

As an AvGeek, flight redemptions have been my main focus in points and miles. When I started learning about the world of travel rewards properly in 2019, I struggled to wrap my head around the value of spending tens or hundreds of thousands of points for a single night at a hotel.

Now, I’ve become partial to a bougie night or two in an aspirational hotel. The thing is, the points required for these hotels are often as aspirational as the stays themselves. For example, spending 250,000 points on a single night at a 5-star hotel just seems crazy to me. I’ve gotten the most value from odd redemptions when I’ve needed a quick overnight stay in a city or at an airport.

Accor’s point system is quite different from other hotel loyalty programs. It still awards its members points, but when redeemed, they are applied as money off the stay. Every 2,000 Rewards points count as €40 (around $45) toward a stay.

For example, I used 6,000 Rewards points to get $138 off a 4-night stay at Mama Shelter Marseille in May. At first, I wasn’t sure if it made sense. But after redeeming several thousand points this way, I think I prefer getting money off rather than redeeming outright.

ALL Accor+ Delivers the Most Value in Certain Regions

Accor’s headquarters is in France, where it has its largest presence. Europe, in general, is a huge market for Accor, with over 3,000 properties in Europe and North Africa. It also has over 1,300 properties in Asia and the Pacific, as well as a sizable footprint in South America.

With the number of visitors to Brazil (specifically Rio), higher than ever before, Sofitel‘s arrival on Ipanema Beach later this year will be one to add to your list.

Since I spent almost the entire year in those regions, it made sense for me to sign up for an Accor+ Explorer subscription. Asia was the most valuable, as it’s the only region where the 2 Stay Plus Nights could be used. I also got up to 50% off with Red Hot Rooms, and my newly earned Platinum status got me free breakfast every day.

Even though the U.S. is a gaping hole in Accor’s portfolio, an Accor+ subscription is still worth considering if you’re planning travel basically anywhere else in the world.

Final Thoughts

After 6 months of trying out an Accor+ Explorer subscription at 15 hotels around the world, I am very pleased that I made the investment. The instant Gold status meant I could start using Accor’s loyalty program only days after I created an account. And once I reached Platinum status, I unlocked evea n more valuable perks.

By spending $245 upfront, I’ve saved between $800 and $1,000 through a combination of free nights and booking discounts. That’s without considering free breakfasts and executive lounge access. After 26-year-old me swore never to stay at an Accor again, this is quite the change.
