Some sad news for World of Hyatt loyalists in Hollywood: The Thompson Hollywood is set to leave the World of Hyatt program in the coming days. But there’s good news for Marriott Bonvoy fans, as the hotel will join its portfolio.

This isn’t the first Hyatt property in Hollywood to swap to Marriott, either.

Here’s what you need to know.

Hyatt Loses Hollywood Hotel to Marriott

The Thompson Hollywood will leave World of Hyatt on July 29, 2025, as flagged by One Mile at a Time.

A notice on the hotel’s website reads: “Effective July 29, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time, Thompson Hollywood will transition to a brand outside of the Hyatt portfolio and is expected to honor all paid reservations.”

The hotel advises that guests with cash or award stays at the hotel from July 29 and beyond should contact Hyatt’s Global Care Center at 1-888-848-9496 (within the U.S.) or 1-402-952-1131 (outside the U.S.).

Additionally, guests who made reservations through an online travel agent (OTA) or other third-party providers should contact their booking provider for information on their policies and assistance.

According to One Mile at a Time, the (soon-to-be) former Thompson Hollywood will become a Marriott Bonvoy hotel, reportedly joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection. There are no details on Marriott’s website yet, but we’ll keep an eye out for updates.

This will be pretty disappointing news for Hyatt fans. The 11-story, 190-room Thompson Hollywood opened back in 2021 with 2 dining options, a rooftop lounge, and a pool with city views.

Despite its location in Hollywood, one of the priciest neighborhoods in Los Angeles, the hotel was a pretty good deal with World of Hyatt points. A category 5 hotel, award nights at the Thompson Hollywood cost between 17,000 and 23,000 World of Hyatt points per night, depending on dates.

Booking Other Hyatt Hotels in Hollywood

If you have a stay coming up and are looking for alternate Hyatt hotels in Hollywood, you’re in luck. Hyatt has 2 other hotels in Hollywood: Dream Hollywood and Andaz West Hollywood.

If you’re looking for a hotel in the same category, you’re better off opting for the Dream Hollywood, which is a Category 5 hotel. Otherwise, you can book the Category 6 Andaz West Hollywood, which costs between 21,000 and 29,000 points per night.

Hot Tip:

World of Hyatt points are notoriously difficult to earn, but you can earn them by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points or by having one of the best credit cards for Hyatt loyalists.

Final Thoughts

The Thompson Hollywood is leaving World of Hyatt at the end of the month and reportedly joining Marriott Bonvoy. This is a bummer, given how affordable the hotel was with points, especially on off-peak nights. We’ll keep an eye out for this property and update this post when we have more information.

While the news is disappointing for Hyatt loyalists, it’s good news for Marriott fans — and the news isn’t all that surprising since the Tommie Hollywood left Hyatt for Marriott at the end of October 2024.
