Thompson Houston Details

Located downtown in Buffalo Bayou Park, the 36-floor Thompson Houston was built from the grand up with a sleek tower of glass and steel. Its 172 guest rooms include 34 suites, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, marble finishes, and warm, earthy colors. The property offers one of the city’s largest outdoor rooftops, as well as an infinity pool, outdoor cabanas, and a 2,500-square-foot green space.

The Thompson Spa is another key feature, encompassing 6 treatment rooms, a sauna, a salon, and a 24-hour fitness center. The hotel will open with just a single restaurant, Soi 7, though there will be 2 additional eateries, Chardon, a French brasserie and Buck 40, an upscale supper club. These will open by the fall of 2024.

“We’re thrilled to open Thompson Houston and offer guests and locals an unparalleled hospitality experience in Houston,” said Ted Knighton, managing director of Thompson Houston. “With a unique design and stellar location beside Buffalo Bayou Park, we are excited to become a homebase for visitors and locals alike and what will surely be the most sought-after social space for weddings and events.”

How To Book the Thompson Houston Hotel

Thompson Houston is now open for guests, and it participates in the World of Hyatt program. That means members can earn and redeem points at the property.

The hotel is a Category 5 property, so award nights start at 17,000 points per night off-peak dates. Award stays cost up to 23,000 points per night on peak dates. Cash rates are also available starting at $400 per night for dates in March.

World of Hyatt points are one of the most lucrative loyalty currencies out there. You can earn Hyatt points by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to Hyatt at a 1:1 ratio, and most transfers are instant. You also can earn Hyatt points through welcome bonuses and spending on either of Hyatt’s co-branded credit cards.
