The long-awaited (and delayed) Thompson Miami Beach will open on October 1, 2025, further expanding the Chicago-based hotel group’s footprint in Miami.

This new hotel is located in Miami Beach’s City Center neighborhood, putting it close to shopping and within walking distance of the area’s infamous beaches. The property is accepting reservations for stays on October 1 and beyond, available using cash or World of Hyatt points.

Let’s take a closer look at the Thompson Miami Beach and what to expect when it opens.

Thompson Miami Beach — Details

The 147-room Thomspon Miami Beach is Florida’s first-ever Thompson property and the 22nd worldwide. Numerous Thompson properties have opened or are opening soon, and now it’s Miami’s turn.

Rooms range from 289-square-foot standard rooms to 723-square-foot Thompson King Suites. There’s also event space, including over 4,136 square feet of rooftop space.

Rooms are outfitted with mid-century modern furnishings and were designed by Gulla Jónsdóttir, a Los Angeles-based designer who has worked on interiors for other high-profile hotels like Hotel G San Francisco.

Every room will have floor-to-ceiling windows, a private balcony or terrace, and local bath products to enjoy on-site. The hotel isn’t beachside, but it puts you in the City Center next to shopping and dining. It’s also just 2 blocks away from the beach.

Further, the property will have an on-site restaurant, the Signature Restaurant, which will have indoor, outdoor, and poolside seating. It will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have an extensive bar with signature cocktails.

Booking the Thompson Miami Beach

As mentioned, the hotel is accepting bookings starting June 1, 2025 with cash or by redeeming World of Hyatt points.

The Thompson Miami Beach will be a Category 6 hotel, so award nights cost between 21,000 and 29,000 per night. You also can book standard suites starting at 36,000 points per night.

Our test searches show that there’s plenty of award space open next June for both standard rooms and suites. Expect to pay standard night rates — 25,000 World of Hyatt points — per night on weekends but off-peak prices — which cost 21,000 points — per night for weekday nights in October. It’s rare to see so much off-peak pricing immediately after a luxury hotel’s opening date, so this is great news.

Cash rates start at $310 for Member Advanced Purchase rates (after tax) and $334 (after tax) for a more flexible Member Rate. Expect to pay more on weekends and during events. During these times, it might make sense to redeem points.

Hot Tip:

Hyatt offers 500 bonus points when members stay at new hotels. This hotel hasn’t been added yet, but keep an eye on the list, as this should hotel be on it for the first few months after opening.

Final Thoughts

Miami Beach is home to dozens of hotels across Hyatt, Marriott, Hilton, and other major hotel loyalty programs. It’s great to see a Thompson preparing to open its doors in the area as well, offering even more oppoetrunities to redeem World of Hyatt points for a stay in one of America’s hottest beach destinations.

Even better, there’s plenty of off-peak award pricing available for using points at the Thompson Miami Beach, which is finally opening on October 1.
