This winter, United Airlines will launch a unique new seasonal service that will surely be well-liked by Bay Area residents wanting to visit the beautiful Central American country of Belize.

Starting December 21, 2024, there’ll be a new nonstop service between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and the Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, Belize.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Seasonal SFO to Belize Service Coming This Winter

In partnership with the Belize Tourism Board, United Airlines will launch a new route starting on December 21, 2024, offering a direct flight from San Francisco (SFO) to Belize (BZE).

This will be United’s fifth hub with nonstop service to Belize. The airline also operates multiple daily flights from Houston (IAH) as well as seasonal flights from Newark (EWR), Denver (DEN), and Chicago (ORD)

The new San Francisco service is now bookable on united.com.

United’s new service will operate once weekly on Saturdays from December 21, 2024, through January 6, 2025, and March 6, 2025, to March 30, 2025, with the following schedule:

  • Depart San Francisco (SFO) 12:30 a.m. — Arrive Belize (BZE) 7:54 a.m.
  • Depart Belize (BZE) 10:15 a.m. — Arrive San Francisco (SFO) 2:24 p.m.

Then, from March 31, 2025, to April 30, 2025, and May 22, 2025, to August 17, 2025, service will operate with the following schedule:

  • Depart San Francisco (SFO) 1:10 p.m. — Arrive Belize (BZE) 7:43 p.m. (Saturdays only)
  • Depart Belize (BZE) 9:30 a.m. — Arrive San Francisco (SFO) 2:24 p.m. (Sundays only)

United will deploy its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the route. The operating aircraft will feature 102 standard seats in Economy and 48 seats in the Economy Plus cabin in a 3-3 configuration. Up front in first class, you’ll find 16 seats in a 2-2 configuration.

Cost

For a flight of around 5 hours and 30 minutes in length, the $1,358 economy round-trip price tag for this December is pretty steep.

If you’re looking for a winter adventure but also want to save some cash, you can redeem United MileagePlus miles instead. Keep in mind that one-way award redemptions are also highly expensive, beginning at 70k miles + $7.10 in economy for the only direct, non-stop route between the 2 cities.
