United Airlines has announced a new partnership with Jaguar North America.

The luxury car company will now be the provider of United’s gate-to-gate chauffeur service at Chicago-O’Hare (ORD).

“United is working to lead with innovation and purpose that motivates the industry to do better for our customers and communities,” said Luc Bonder, MileagePlus President and Vice President of Marketing and Loyalty at United. “Partnering with Jaguar to deploy an all-electric fleet is not only a smart business move, as we know customers consider sustainability when booking travel, it is the right thing to do.”

Here’s what we know about United and Jaguar’s new partnership and what that could mean for you.

United’s Gate-to-Gate Transfers Go Electric

MileagePlus Premium members with tight connections at United’s hub airports in the U.S. will soon get the chance of being chauffeured between gates in Jaguar’s first all-electric SUV — the Jaguar I-PACE HSE.

Rather than a guaranteed benefit, United offers this luxury gate-to-gate transfer as a surprise to unsuspecting Premier MileagePlus members who have tight connections.

Hot Tip: Members of United’s MileagePlus loyalty program benefit from a whole host of perks. To find out more, check out our guide.

After the launch in Chicago on October 26, 2022, other United hub airports such as Denver (DEN), Houston (IAH), Newark (EWR), Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Washington-Dulles (IAD) will also welcome the I-PACE HSE by the end of 2022.

The rollout of the I-PACE HSE’s will herald the first all-electric gate-to-gate transfer service in the United States.

“We are thrilled to partner with United Airlines to further ignite the passion travelers have for eco-minded exploration, as sustainability and electrifying performance are at the heart of the Jaguar brand,” said Joe Eberhardt, President & CEO, Jaguar Land Rover North America. “Both United and Jaguar have boldly pledged to advancing transportation technology that will help propel us towards a more sustainable future, and we are excited for travelers to have the opportunity to experience these innovations on the tarmac.”

Should you be interested in trading in your gas-guzzling SUV and purchasing an all-electric Jaguar for $71,300, not only would you be reducing your carbon footprint, but United MileagePlus members can earn 50,000 miles through the purchase or lease of a new Jaguar vehicle. The offer runs through December 31, 2022.

Final Thoughts

If you’re lucky enough to get a surprise gate-to-gate chauffeur for your next United airport connection, then you’ll get to experience Jaguar’s all-electric I-PACE HSE.

While this small step won’t single-handedly offset United’s carbon emissions, it’s a step in the right direction.
