Dominica is regarded as one of the Caribbean’s hidden treasures, so it’s no surprise that United has announced it will launch a new route between Newark (EWR) and Dominica (DOM).

Here’s what you need to know about the start of this exciting new route!

United Launches Direct Service to Dominica

This new United route from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Dominica (DOM) will launch on February 15, 2025, and operate 1x per week on Saturdays.

The new United flight will fly according to this schedule:

  • Depart Newark at 9:10 a.m., arrive in Dominica at 2:39 p.m.
  • Depart Dominica at 3:45 p.m., arrive in Newark at 7:51 p.m.

United will fly a Boeing 737-700 on this route, with 12 first-class recliners, 36 Economy Plus extra-legroom seats, and 78 economy seats.

Prior to this announcement, American Airlines was the only airline offering direct service to Dominica from the United States mainland. The Fort Worth-based carrier provides daily service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Dominica. However, United’s most recent route announcement has changed this.

This new route provides travelers in the New York City metropolitan area and connecting passengers with a more convenient option to explore the lesser-known island of Dominica.

Dominica, frequently called the “Nature Island” of the Caribbean, is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. The island is positioned between the French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique. It is the largest and most northerly of the Windward Islands, which include Grenada, Saint Lucia, Martinique, Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines.

In 2026, Dominica will introduce a new airport, and this new route has been initiated to create direct connections to more distant destinations once the international airport is up and running.

The new route between Newark (EWR) and Dominica (DOM) is now available to book on United.com

Final Thoughts

United’s new Newark to Dominica route offers an exciting opportunity for Northeast travelers. It provides nonstop service to one of the Caribbean’s most hidden-gem destinations. Depending on the route’s performance, additional airlines might join the Dominica trend and initiate their own direct flights to the eastern Caribbean island — or United may increase frequency if the flight proves popular.
