Virgin Atlantic has decided it’s high time that all members of its Flying Club get priority boarding, no matter their elite status level.

Starting today, March 14, 2024, Virgin’s entry-level Red members will enjoy priority boarding, among the first group of passengers.

“We are constantly enhancing our Flying Club program so that our members receive the very best of Virgin Atlantic,” said Anthony Woodman, vice president of Flying Club and CRM at Virgin Atlantic.

Here are the details you need to know.

All Virgin Flying Club Members Eligible for Priority Boarding

All Virgin Flying Club Red elites will now enjoy priority boarding on all their future Virgin Atlantic flights. Here’s what the boarding process looks like:

  1. Passengers requiring extra assistance, including those with young children
  2. Upper Class passengers
  3. Flying Club Gold elite members
  4. Premium economy passengers
  5. Economy Delight passengers
  6. Flying Club Red elite members
  7. Economy Classic and Economy Light passengers

Granted, there’s still a chance that lots of passengers will have boarded before Red members are given their slot in the sixth position. Still, this is a nice gesture from Virgin and goes a long way to making its Flying Club Red members feel a little more valued.

For example, simply signing up for frequent flyer programs of American AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, and United MileagePlus doesn’t grant you any priority boarding — you have to climb to at least the first level of elite status to be eligible.

Other perks that come with Red membership status include the ability to earn and redeem points on flights, access to a dedicated Flying Club phone line, and a discount on access to the airline’s delightful Clubhouse lounges.

“Our Red Tier members already receive access to a world of earning and spending opportunities for their Virgin Points, and now our new boarding benefit provides an extra sweetener to the beginning of their journeys with us,” continued Woodman.

If you’re not a Virgin Flying Club loyalty member already, you can sign up for free.

Hot Tip:

It’s a bumper day for Virgin Atlantic as the U.K.-based airline has just launched an amazing 50% off sale for reward flights including from the U.S. to the U.K! Fly from the East Coast to London from just 19k points one-way!

Final Thoughts

Virgin Atlantic wants all of its Flying Club members to enjoy priority boarding — even if they’re starting out as a standard Red elite member. We’ve heard through the grapevine that more benefits could be on the way for Red elites… watch this space for more!
