W Hotels has opened its second hotel in the United Kingdom, this time in Edinburgh, Scotland. The new hotel in the St. James Quarter promises to be a cultural hub within the city.

Locally-Inspired Design Concepts

W Edinburgh’s interior designer, Jestico + Whiles, blends “the best of Scotland” with the brand’s signature offerings. This includes the hotel’s unique Whatever/Whenever service, the hotel’s idea that guests should have whatever they want, whenever they want it.

Inspired by the city’s coastal location and foundation of volcanic rock, guests can find “charred wood” paneling in public areas, and volcanic rock is used at the welcome desk. A nod to fire and water can be found throughout the hotel, including at the W Lounge bar and the minibars.

There are 199 guestrooms and 45 suites, some offering outdoor terraces. The showstopper and W Hotel’s version of the Presidential Suite, The Extreme Wow Suite, is 1,600 square feet with a view of Edinburgh’s skyline. The suite features a round, super-king-size bed, a free-standing bath, a private sauna, and more.

There are 3 dining options at W Edinburgh, all of which present a twist on traditional Scottish cuisine. SUSHISAMBA is a fusion of flavors from Japan, Brazil, and Peru. W Lounge has a menu designed around produce from Scotland, Wales, and Ireland with dishes like Baked Ben Nevis. And lastly, João’s Place is a secret apartment speakeasy where guests can enjoy music, cocktails, and sunsets in the evenings.

Additional amenities include a spa, fitness center, and a Sound Suite recording studio, a signature offering of W Hotels, and a first for the U.K.
