Air France is investing in its international lounge experience. The French flag carrier is renovating and adding lounges at major outstations, such as Los Angeles (LAX) and New York (JFK), as well as at locations closer to home in Europe.

The Air France-KLM duo connects more U.K. airports with Amsterdam (AMS) and Paris (CDG) than any other airline. This unrivaled connectivity has made the airlines popular for connecting travel between the U.K. and the rest of the world, including the U.S. As such, Heathrow was high on the airline’s list for international locations, and its first-ever London lounge opened its doors on July 7, 2026.

Having been impressed by the newest U.S. location at LAX, I couldn’t wait to see what Air France’s space at Heathrow had to offer.

Location of the Air France Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4

I’d like to preface the access to the lounge with a tip on getting to Heathrow in the first place. DO NOT, under any circumstances, pay for an on-the-day ticket on the Heathrow Express. It’s the most expensive stretch of train line in the U.K., and will save you at most around 10 minutes.

I highly recommend the air-conditioned, spacious, frequent, and comparatively very cheap Elizabeth Line instead.

Finding the lounge is easy, as signs point you in the right direction immediately after you clear security. Turn left and head toward Pret à Manger, where you’ll see a sign directing you to an elevator or up the stairs to level 3. The lounge is just ahead of gate 6b.

Gaining Entry to the Air France Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4

Once at Heathrow, you need to be flying out of Terminal 4 to use Air France’s new lounge. Heathrow is not like airports in the U.S., where it’s possible to walk between terminals after clearing TSA.

Passengers eligible to use the Air France Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4 include:

  • Air France La Première (first class) ticket holders
  • Air France and KLM business class ticket holders
  • Business class ticket holders flying other SkyTeam airlines (such as Korean Air)
  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue Gold elite members and higher
  • SkyTeam Elite Plus status holders

Depending on the type of access, eligible passengers are usually entitled to bring 1 guest, provided they’re flying on a same-day SkyTeam-operated flight.

Opening hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., so don’t get to Heathrow too early.

Seating

From the moment I arrived at the check-in desk, I was struck by how light and spacious the lounge was, with my eyes immediately drawn to the views of the airport through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The lounge’s prime corner location in Terminal 4 afforded unrivaled views over Heathrow’s 27L runway.

The lounge is one huge space, split into a couple of different zones.

What I’d call the main lounge area offers a variety of seating to match how you’d like to spend your time.

The second half of the space is a dedicated dining area, with a mixture of restaurant-style seating and banquettes.

There’s also a sit-up bar. I didn’t notice it being attended during my visit, but it was very early in the morning, and people were more interested in coffee and a spot of breakfast than a tipple.

Being able to see almost the whole airport operation from the floor-to-ceiling windows is probably my favorite thing about the lounge.

Air France also made sure power outlets, including USB-A and USB-C ports, are available at most seats.

It’s always nice to see Air France’s commitment to its partner airline KLM reflected in the various posters and imagery throughout its lounges.

Food and Beverages

The buffet area was set up with hot and cold breakfast items during my visit around 10 a.m.

A central counter was home to the cold items, including a ton of fresh fruit, cold cuts, and pastries. No expense was spared with the Bonne Maman jam.

Among the selection of hot foods was this sign advertising poached eggs on request. Considering Air France’s lounges in Paris don’t offer any à la carte options, this seemingly simple gesture is actually quite impressive.

I wonder if they’d have stretched to an egg white omelet if I’d have asked nicely…

Amenities

Airline lounges outside of their hub airports tend to offer a very basic level of amenities. Not here, not Air France. There’s a Clarins spa, a private space for passengers flying La Première, and a dedicated area for Flying Blue’s top elites.

Clarins Spa

All passengers can receive a 15-minute facial (within a 20-minute slot) at the Clarins Spa, regardless of airline and cabin class. I recommend going straight to the booking device on arrival for the best chance of securing a slot.

I did exactly that and booked in for a 20-minute slot for an eye treatment from a list of 3 options, which also included a detox and jet lag relief.

Sharon, my highly skilled therapist, worked her magic, and I left feeling rejuvenated and ready for my long journey to Brazil.

Exclusive Space for La Première Passengers

Air France’s investment in its La Première experience goes beyond its new cabin and lounges at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). An exclusive private room inside its Heathrow lounge offers a tranquil haven with spectacular views, and as much privacy as anyone could need at an airport.

An example itinerary that gives you access to this space is flying from London Heathrow (LHR) to Los Angeles (LAX) via Paris (CDG) with a La Première ticket. Even though the segment from London to Paris would be in business class, you’d have this bonus La Première ground experience in London to enjoy.

Speaking of LAX, Air France recently opened an impressive lounge space in Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Dedicated Flying Blue Ultimate Corner

Flying Blue top elites also have access to a small area just for them. The space for Ultimate status holders is at the far end of the lounge after the buffet. There’s seating for about 3 or 4 passengers.

Nap Room

Tired or jetlagged passengers have a nap room at their disposal to recharge. It could have been made even better if Air France had used the same bed-style seating as its lounges in Paris, where you can lie fully flat.

Showers

I didn’t take a look at the showers, as I was too occupied with the views and my facial, of course. I’d expect they’d be equally as chic as the rest of the lounge, though.

Service

During my brief time in the lounge, I had the pleasure of interacting with several members of the team. I shared that I’d be writing about the lounge and wanted to get pictures of the La Première Room for my article. The team was happy to oblige, clearly proud of their new workplace and happy to be on the front line for Air France.

Final Thoughts

Air France’s investment in this truly fantastic lounge space at Heathrow is a testament to its dedication to providing a premium experience for its passengers, even when they’re not departing from Paris.

The impressive views, ample seating, and complimentary spa treatments make this, without doubt,my favorite lounge in Terminal 4, and potentially in the whole of Heathrow.

With more lounges in the pipeline, including the largest in the U.S. at JFK, Air France could surely win the title of the airline with the most consistently premium outstation lounges.
