I recently flew Lufthansa business class and was quite disappointed with the inflight experience. With a few exceptions, it was no different from flying in economy. But the preflight lounge experience helped make up for a lackluster flight. I spent a few hours here before my flight watching some of the Summer Olympics, getting some work done, and having a few delicious snacks before boarding.

I’ll detail my entire experience of the Lufthansa Business Lounge near gate A13 at Frankfurt Airport (FRA), with specific details on the location, how to gain access, and amenities.

Lufthansa Business Lounge A13 Location

The Lufthansa Business Lounge in Frankfurt Airport is in Terminal 1 after security, near gate A13, in the Schengen Area.

After security, a bright yellow sign pointed to several lounges.

You can’t miss this sign after security.

Once I turned left, I saw another large yellow sign. The Lufthansa Business Lounge was about 30 steps ahead.

Gaining Entry to the Lufthansa Business Lounge A13

I gained free entry to the lounge with my Lufthansa short-haul business class ticket.

There are several ways you can get entrance to Lufthansa Business Lounges:

  • Have a business or first class ticket for that day with Lufthansa or a Star Alliance partner
  • Be a Lufthansa’s Miles & More HON Circle, Senator, or Frequent Traveller member (excluding Senators and Frequent Travellers traveling on a Eurowings or Discover Airlines BASIC fare)
  • Be a Star Alliance Gold member

For people who aren’t road warriors, buy a business class ticket on Lufthansa to get entrance. If you have a first class ticket, the Lufthansa First Class Lounge is directly next to this one.

Hot Tip:

You don’t need to fly business or first class to use airport lounges. I also have a Priority Pass membership, which you can grab by simply having one of many travel credit cards like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit CardInformation collected independently. Not reviewed by Capital One..

First Impressions

At the check-in desk, the agent asked for my boarding pass and passport, and I quickly entered the lounge. I was greeted by a large lobby area with plenty of drinks and places to sit. At the back were plenty of Lufthansa planes coming in and out of their respective gates.

The picture doesn’t do it justice. It’s a gorgeous entry.

Immediately to the left of the entrance were 2 call rooms with insulated walls. This was a great feature to take a phone call without disturbing others.

Someone was in this space talking before I took this picture, and I could barely hear him.

Seating

The lounge had ample seating across the entire space for all types of travelers.

A great workspace area was down the hallway and to the right. When I peeked in, only a few people were using it.

It was extremely quiet in here, making it a great place to get work done.

The main lounge area had several types of seats, including sound-resistant spaces with individual seats and couches. Beyond those were couches with TVs showing the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Lufthansa Seating Individual Lounge FRA
It was a busy lounge, but plenty of open seats were still open.

It also had large and small communal tables. I decided to sit with other travelers and watch planes taxi in and out of their gates between Olympic water polo matches.

A beautiful Boeing 747 was in the distance.

Food and Beverage

The food was solid but not mind-blowing. Several warm dishes and desserts were available, including steamed vegetables, rice, and chicken noodle soup.

I wasn’t too hungry, so I passed on this. It did smell really good.

In true German fashion, I had to indulge in a pretzel, which was to die for.

They were as good as they looked.

The desserts were incredibly good. On the left was a panna cotta with strawberry puree, and on the right was a chocolate triple. I may have had more than 1.

Drinks

There were several kinds of beverages, and the lounge had 2 coffee stations. I had a hot latte before leaving, and it was pretty solid.

I had to grab coffee for my late-night flight.

Alongside the coffee station was a water station and alcohol-free wines.

Lufthansa Lounge FRA Drinks
Mocktails are starting to grow in popularity. I’ve seen them in a few lounges now.

Next to the buffet was a full variety of spirits and sodas.

Amenities

Wi-Fi

I got work done in the lounge and streamed the Olympics on my phone with no issue. My download speed was 266 Mbps.

Lufthansa Business Lounge Internet Speed
Anything above 100 Mbps is considered “fast.”

Showers

Past the phone rooms were the showers, and they were great. After getting comfortable, I decided to shower. I approached the attendant and was informed that they were filled and to come back in a bit. Thirty minutes later, I found an open one, and she helped me get situated.

Hot Tip:

Some lounges have a high demand for showers. Check with an attendant soon after entering the lounge to see if you need to reserve a time to shower.

The private shower room includes everything you need for a refreshing shower before your flight. The rainfall shower head was about 10 feet above the ground.

It was a spacious room. Tranquil music was also playing.

The attendant provided me with clean towels, and the shower had a dispenser with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Restrooms

I didn’t peek into the restrooms, but they looked like individual restrooms. From what I saw, there was no line.

Staff and Service

I didn’t interact with too many staff members, but they quickly picked up any remaining dishes and ensured the entire lounge was sparkling.

Final Thoughts

The Lufthansa Business Lounge near gate A13 at Frankfurt Airport was a solid lounge experience. It wasn’t over the top in any category, but it gave me a much quieter environment than my gate to get some work done and unwind.

While my lounge experience was a solid 8 out of 10, I can’t say the same for the flight that followed. Check out my article, “Why I Regret Flying Lufthansa Short-Haul Business Class,” to learn why.
