The Barcelona airport has 4 different lounges in Terminal 1 that you can visit with a Priority Pass membership. Depending on your departure gate, a specific lounge may be more easily accessible than the others.

For those taking short-distance shuttle flights, such as between Barcelona and Madrid, the Sala VIP Colomer lounge might be your most convenient option.

From good food and beverages to work-focused spaces, the lounge had some definite positives. It won’t feature on any list of the world’s best airport lounges, but it’s a good lounge overall.

Here are 5 things you should know about this space.

Location of the Sala VIP Colomer Lounge

In Terminal 1 of Barcelona El Prat (BCN) airport, the Sala VIP Colomer lounge is near gate A2. If you turn left after the terminal’s main security checkpoint, follow the hall as it turns left and keep walking.

You’ll see a sign at the end of the concourse pointing left to the lounge and the restrooms.
The entrance to the lounge is here, accessed via automatic sliding doors.

These A gates with low numbers are typically used by short-haul flights within Spain — especially the hop from Barcelona to Madrid (MAD). Passengers flying this route with Iberia, Vueling, or Air Europa depart from gates near this lounge, making it more convenient than others available from Priority Pass.

How To Access the Lounge

As mentioned, you can access the Sala VIP Colomer lounge with a Priority Pass membership. While you can purchase a membership, it’s also possible to get one as an enrollable benefit on some of our favorite premium cards, such as:

The lounge is also available to business class passengers with several airlines, including Air Europa, Air France, Finnair, and others.

Beyond this, there are a few additional ways to access the lounge. Those with a Dragonpass membership can enter at no charge, and you can purchase a day pass for €46.60 ($54) for those 11 or older or €21.55 ($25) for children 6 to 10. Children 5 and younger can enter at no charge with an adult.

The lounge is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

5 Things To Know About the Sala VIP Colomer Lounge

Here are the most important things you should know about this space.

1. It’s Actually Convenient for Some Passengers

Seeing that the directions include “go to the end of the concourse” might make you think this lounge is in a bad location. While the setting does appear strange at first, those flying the Barcelona-Madrid route will probably depart from a gate near to this lounge. If that’s you, it’s pretty convenient.

Passengers departing from further gates should consider other options, though. For anyone whose gate assignment isn’t in the A gates, the distance to get here and then back to your gate is probably too much to make it worth it. Expect a 15-minute walk back to the point where the A Concourse separates from others.

2. It Feels Spacious

The lounge’s open layout and arrangement of furniture make it feel spacious, even though it’s admittedly not among the largest airport lounges I’ve visited recently. The amount of natural sunlight pouring in probably helps with this feeling.

The fact that seating is arranged in blocks and not butting up against the large center aisle through the lounge also helps. Nothing feels like it is spilling into or encroaching on the walkway, which also contributes to the open feeling.

3. Food and Drinks Aren’t Grouped Together

From the lounge’s entrance, most of the food and beverages are to the left. Here, there’s a buffet spread across 2 sections.

On the buffet, you find pastries, salad fixings, and charcuterie, among other fare.

Nearby are bottled drinks, a self-serve coffee station, and a cooler stocked with juices and milk.

Each dish is clearly labeled in Spanish, Catalan, and English, and there are clear indications of allergens.

You’ll also find various wines available on a separate stand nearby, found under the departure boards.

However, if you turn right upon entering the lounge, you’ll find a smaller buffet area that still offers bottled sodas and beers, along with cookies, chips, nuts, and olives.

4. Working Is Easy

Past the main buffet — turning left from the lounge’s entrance — there are high-top tables with stools.

However, going past these leads to several desks with multiple outlets each, and they’re flanked by rolling computer chairs. This spot was popular during my early morning visit.

If you turn right from the main entrance, there’s a meeting room near the hallway to the bathrooms. This space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and has both a door and privacy glass to keep your team distraction-free during the meeting.

5. Amenities Are Few

Beyond the food, drinks, and working spaces, there are limited amenities in this lounge. You won’t encounter showers, nap pods, or a spa here.

However, there are restrooms, which are cleaned regularly, and fun elephant stools for kids.

The lounge doesn’t have its own Wi-Fi network. Instead, visitors use the main internet connection provided by the airport, which is complimentary.

Final Thoughts

I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit the Sala VIP Colomer lounge in Barcelona. However, I have no doubt I’ll wind up in the A Concourse of Terminal 1 again at some point, and I will definitely visit this lounge at that time.

The lounge doesn’t have a ton of amenities to offer, but what is available is definitely more than just decent. It offers good options for food and beverages, it’s clean, and it doesn’t feel cramped — even when it gets busy.
