The author traveled as an invited guest of Resorts World Bimini. The resort had no input in this article, and all opinions are the author’s own.

I recently took a quick weekend trip to Bimini, Bahamas, a small island very close to Florida. Until recently, it was difficult to get to. Now that American Airlines flies there directly from Miami, this Bahamian destination is a great spot for a quick escape close to home.

In this Resorts World Bimini review, I’m sharing 6 things you should consider before booking, including how to get there, booking with points, and what you can expect at the resort.

1. It’s Easier To Reach Bimini With AA’s New Flight

Located just 63 miles from Florida’s coast, Bimini is the closest Bahamian island to the U.S. Until American Airlines launched its inaugural flight to the island in February 2026, getting there was difficult. Prior to that, you had to take a 2-hour ferry ride from Fort Lauderdale or book a seaplane. Now, accessing Bimini is as easy as hopping on an 18-minute flight from Miami International Airport (MIA).

Arriving to Bimini on the inaugural flight from Miami
I flew on the inaugural flight from Miami to Bimini.

The flight operates 3 times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, on an Embraer 175 aircraft.

Bimini Airport (BIM) is located on South Bimini, while the resort is on North Bimini. After landing, you’ll need to take a 20-minute ferry ride to get to Resorts World Bimini. It’s complimentary for hotel guests, and you’ll see an option to schedule it when booking your room.

Hot Tip:

For a great deal on American’s flight between Miami and Bimini, look to the Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards program. You can book round-trip flights for as few as 9,000 Atmos Rewards points plus taxes and fees.

2. Use Capital One To Book Resorts World Bimini With Miles

Resorts World Bimini used to be a Hilton property, but it’s not currently part of any points loyalty program. That doesn’t mean you can’t book it with miles. This would be a great opportunity to use Capital One miles to cover your travel purchases. Just make a booking at Resorts World Bimini (either directly or through a third party like Hotels.com) and pay with an eligible Capital One card. You can then use your Capital One miles to cover the cost within 90 days at 1 cent per point.

3. The Beach Is a Short Shuttle Ride Away

The resort is located on a canal, offering easy boat access and nice views, but it’s not beachfront. The beach is just a few minutes away by complimentary shuttle.

Bimini Beach is where you’ll find 2 resort-style pools and direct beach access. This is the same spot used by cruise ships visiting Bimini’s port, so it can be a bit more crowded when a ship is in town. When I visited, the crowd thinned out a bit later in the afternoon after cruise ship passengers started leaving.

On the day I was there, one of the pools was reserved for families while the other was for adults only. There are often live DJs providing entertainment by the pool. If you’re not staying at the resort, you can purchase access to Bimini Beach separately.

The 2 pools are right next to the beach, which was my preferred spot. The sand was soft and white, and the water was every shade of blue.

Hot Tip:

To explore the water further, you can book a half-day trip that includes snorkeling at The Sapona shipwreck on Viator. This tour departs from Resorts World Bimini.

4. Amenities Include 4 Pools, a Casino, a Spa, and a Gym

There are 4 pools at Resorts World Bimini. The main hotel building has 2, including an adults-only rooftop infinity pool and a lagoon pool by the canal, while the other 2 pools are at Bimini Beach, which is a quick (and complimentary) shuttle ride away.

There’s a 10,000-square-foot casino with table games, over 160 slot machines, and a high-limit room at the main hotel, just off the lobby. Plus, there’s a spa and a gym.

There was also a small arcade geared toward kids. During my 2-night stay at Resorts World Bimini in February 2026, I didn’t see a single kid at the hotel. If you’re traveling during spring break or the summer, your experience will probably be different than mine.

5. All Guest Rooms Have a Balcony

If I’m visiting a warm-weather destination, having a balcony is a must. So I appreciated that every single room at Resorts World Bimini had a balcony.

I stayed in a Resort View room with views of the canal and pool below. It was a beautiful spot to sit in the evenings, but it was a bit too sunny for me to have coffee on the balcony in the morning. If that’s important to you, book an Island View room, which overlooks the town.

6. Bimini Is a Small Island

Bimini is a tiny, 7-mile-long island in the Bahamas. It’s not overdeveloped, so you won’t see lots of sprawling resorts, fancy restaurants, or made-for-tourist attractions. There’s a shopping area near the hotel called Fisherman’s Village and another in town, so you can still pick up some local treats or souvenirs. Plus, there are a number of excursions you can take, like a guided food tour or a snorkeling excursion, but it’s nothing like what you’d find in a more touristy spot like Nassau — and that’s a good thing.

This is the kind of island you can navigate in a golf cart (and you should definitely do this). You can explore different beaches and local bars and restaurants with a totally laid-back Bahamian vibe. It’s a unique island that’s perfect for a quick weekend trip.

Hot Tip:

Be sure to get out to explore Bimini while you’re staying at the resort. You can rent a golf cart or book a food tour to get a taste of the island.

Final Thoughts

Resorts World Bimini is just over 60 miles from Florida’s coast, and it’s easier than ever to access thanks to the new direct flight from Miami to Bimini on American Airlines. If you’re looking for a close-to-home option for a weekend of water activities, warm weather, and an island with a Bahamian feel, Bimini could be a great choice.
