London has no shortage of legendary hotels, and after living in London on and off for almost 10 years, I’m only now experiencing its luxury hotels as a visitor.

Six Senses is the most luxurious hotel brand in the IHG portfolio, and Six Senses London opened in March 2026 as one of the city’s most notable new luxury hotels. I stayed for 2 nights in late August 2026 to see what all the fuss is about.

Booking a Stay at Six Senses London

You can book a stay at Six Senses London starting at 160,000 IHG One Rewards points, and when paying cash, nightly rates start at $949.

Using a travel rewards credit card could elevate your Six Senses stay. For example, when booking via Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts, the Capital One Premier Collection, or The Edit by Chase, you’d be eligible for benefits such as daily breakfast, a dining or spa credit, room upgrades, and more.

Location of Six Senses London

Six Senses London is in the predominantly residential neighborhood of Bayswater. Its location in an old department store in this quiet part of West London is within walking distance of Notting Hill, Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, and Paddington Rail Station.

Inside a Junior Corner Suite

The Junior Corner Suite I stayed in at Six Senses London was sleek and sophisticated.

As I entered the room, the brilliantly oversized bathroom took center stage. Although it was an unusual layout, I much prefer it to a windowless box tucked away in the corner of the room.

I can’t remember ever having a walk-in shower this spacious. And I loved that there were 2 types of shower lotions: Pep Up for the morning, and Chill Out for the evening.

The gold finishes and black accessories combined beautifully with the vanity top.

Black, white, and gold.

Heading into the bedroom and living space felt like stepping into my dream London home. The space had a distinctly modern British feel, although its warm woods, midcentury modernist style of furniture, and earthy tones reminded me of the interiors I’ve grown to love in Brazil.

The most striking feature was the dark wood headboard and accompanying bedside units, which were complemented by overhanging lights, gold finishes, and black power outlets. These small details came together to create a sleek, cohesive look.

The London-themed ornament and intricately designed hand-shaped wardrobe door handles were small but intentional touches that added to the hotel’s unique, whimsical eccentricity.

An honorary mention also goes to whoever signed off on the flooring’s texture and color combo.

The room was as practical as it was aesthetically pleasing: the marble luggage shelf inside the wardrobe was a testament to that. Another simple yet much-appreciated design element was the floating shelf by the door for keys, wallets, and other pocket fodder.

As I stay in more luxury 5-star hotels, finding an in-room amenity for the first time, such as this Smeg espresso machine, gets far less frequent.

I could get used to having a proper bean-to-cup coffee maker just 2 steps from my bed. I also loved that there was a backgammon board, which I’d have used if I knew how to play.

Wellness Wasn’t Just a Gimmick

The spa and wellness facilities at Six Senses London are the most diverse and advanced I’ve ever come across.

The 2,300-square-meter (almost 25,000-square-foot) spa offers treatments ranging from compression boots and PEMF therapy to an inversion table and cryotherapy.

I enjoyed the in-depth wellness screening, during which 40 key biomarkers were checked.

The screening was in addition to the regular spa treatments.

Finally, I had no issues completing my trainer’s full workout plan in the impressively well-equipped gym.

In the not-too-distant future, the hotel will feature a 20-meter (65-foot) pool. In an old city where hotels are often in historic buildings, building a pool is difficult, and this will further add to Six Senses’ allure.

Dining at Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café

Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café is the hotel’s principal dining outlet. It’s open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Kitchen Counter breakfast buffet (£34, around $45) is displayed in front of the open kitchen.

From the tempting display of pastries to the selection of bread and cake, everything looked homemade and fresh.

Six Senses’ wellness philosophy extends to breakfast with a healthy shot trolley.

I also ordered a couple of egg dishes from the à la carte selection. The Kitchen Counter buffet with the addition of a Morning Headliner Dish is £48 ($63).

Breakfast even came with an amuse-bouche.

This was my first time ever having a breakfast amuse-bouche.

Dinner at Whiteley’s Kitchen pairs distinctly British produce and dishes with culinary influences from around the world. My friend Jean and I chose Trust the Chef, a surprise menu (£88, around $116 per person) where we didn’t know what we’d get until it arrived.

As a self-confessed chocoholic, this dessert stole the show.

Next door at Whiteley’s Bar, there’s a strict no-laptop rule. It would have been nice to enjoy a glass of wine while finishing some work in a social setting, but I understand that laptops sometimes need to be put in their place.

After months of uninterrupted sunshine, London served me a chilly and overcast few days, so I didn’t get to properly enjoy the terrace in all its glory.

A Private Members’ Club Atmosphere

Walking around the hotel, I felt like I was at a more grown-up, refined Soho House.

It was only when I explored properly that I learned the hotel does indeed have a members’ club. Debuting at Six Senses London, Six Senses Place is a new concept for the brand that brings community and wellness together in an exclusive setting.

Hotel guests can also use this space to work, grab some lunch, take a meeting, or even have an evening tipple.

Design Balanced Grand and Eclectic With Whimsical and Contemporary

The design added whimsy with tortoise footstools, miniature duck mascots, and cute little hare statues.

It was an excellent decision to keep the original staircase of the historic Whiteley’s department store.

Not everything is understated.

The grand old staircase connects Six Senses Place on the first floor with the lobby and Whiteley’s dining outlets on the ground floor.

The whimsical elevators looked like something out of “Alice in Wonderland.”

The greenest elevator you ever did see.

Down in the Alchemy Bar, it was like being in a herbology lesson at Hogwarts. It was so interesting to learn about herbal medicines and make custom herbal teas!

Our instructor, Rebecca, expertly guided my friend Mikey and me in making personalized lotions and herbal blends tailored to our preferences.

Green First

The first sign of this is walking through the front door and being greeted with lush greenery.

I’ve stayed at sustainable hotels, but Six Senses London takes it to the next level. Just one way Six Senses London avoids unnecessary waste is using orange peels left over from breakfast juice for Negroni garnishes. The hotel’s complimentary house car is fully electric — and green. It’s available to guests at certain times during the day for journeys of less than 2 miles.

Six Senses London Has the Right People

A hotel can only truly be 5-star with the right people.

The memorable interaction started with a warm welcome from Liam at check-in. Danush at Whiteley’s Bar kindly informed me of the no-laptop policy, escorting me to a lobby area where I could work. He took my drink order and brought me some nibbles while I finished working.

I must also mention Georges, an incredibly charming and charismatic Brazilian chap who runs the restaurant at Six Senses Place.

The very last conversation I had at the hotel was with Waldi while waiting for an Uber. He shared his story of coming to London from the Dominican Republic during the pandemic without knowing a word of English. Fast forward a couple of years, and he’s a bellhop at one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, smiling with positive energy and genuine care for guests.

Final Thoughts

I left London back in 2024 because it stopped feeling like home. Almost 2 years later, while visiting the city as a tourist, Six Senses London helped me reconnect with my old hometown in a way I wasn’t expecting.

Even though I’d never stepped foot in the building before, it felt so familiar in an old-best-friend kind of way.

In a city with so many legacy hotels, Six Senses London stands out with distinctive design, an unrivaled approach to wellness, and exceptional staff.
