The author was an invited guest of W Montréal and Tourisme Montréal. All opinions are the author’s own; neither the hotel nor Tourisme Montréal had any input in this article.

I have wanted to visit Montréal and the province of Quebec for years. It’s an area that has always fascinated me, and I welcome any opportunity to practice my probably-should-be-better French skills. When I discovered that Air Canada was launching a new nonstop flight between my home airport in Columbus, Ohio, and Montréal, I jumped at the chance to finally visit this French-speaking Canadian city.

I spent 3 nights in May 2026 at the W Montréal, and would happily return for another stay. Here’s what you can expect, including my 4 favorite things about the hotel.

W Montréal Overview and Video

After flying on Air Canada’s new route between Columbus and Montréal, I had the pleasure of exploring this Canadian city for the weekend. My home for 3 nights was the W Montréal, a design-forward hotel that can be booked with Marriott Bonvoy points.

1. It Can Be Booked With Marriott Bonvoy Points

The W Montréal hotel is a great option when you want to use your Marriott Bonvoy points. Prices are reasonable, ranging from 43,000 to 76,000 points per night, and cash prices start just under $300 per night.

If you’re short on points, you can use a Marriott co-branded credit card (or better yet, earn a welcome bonus offer on a new card), or transfer them from programs such as Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, or Bilt Rewards.

Alternatively, you could use a Marriott free night certificate. These come as perks on various Marriott credit cards and as a Titanium Elite Choice Benefit. They can be topped off with up to 25,000 points, which expands their flexibility.

Hot Tip:

Marriott Bonvoy members with Platinum Elite status or higher can choose free breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant, Tbsp., as a welcome amenity. You can get Platinum Elite status just by holding the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card.

2. The Hotel’s Design Was Bold and Colorful

The element of cool was evident as soon as I walked into the warehouse-meets-chic-lounge lobby. Geometric wire sculptures hanging from the high ceilings gave an industrial feel, while mix-and-match couches in bold pink, orange, and yellow hues added warmth and whimsy.

The fun design extended far beyond the lobby — even the elevators, bathed in red light and a rug that said “Bonjour,” were cool.

Plus, giant-sized mirrored numbers, done in an old-school digital font, adorned each floor.

3. My Room Was Comfortable and Elegant

I spent 3 nights in a 1 King Bed, Park View, Superior Guest Room. Done in a black-and-white color scheme with gold accents, my room at the W Montréal was elegant and comfortable but still felt fresh and contemporary. The first thing I noticed was the striking geometric carpet, which gave the room an immediate sense of style.

Large windows overlooking the park across the street made the 422-square-foot room feel spacious and airy. Along the wall as I entered was a closet, a versatile bench that could be used as seating or luggage storage, and a desk. The minibar was stocked with snacks and drinks available for purchase, as well as complimentary coffee and tea.

Across from that was the king-sized bed, which was incredibly comfortable. Each side of the bed had a nightstand with plenty of outlets to charge devices. Glass water bottles were refilled each day. The unique black bed runner featuring an animal face offered a touch of Moira Rose-approved whimsy.

The bathroom was open to the room, with only curtains for privacy. I was traveling with my husband, so it wasn’t an issue, but it could be awkward with someone other than a spouse.

In the bathroom, there was a big soaking tub, a rain shower, and a single sink with plenty of counter space. I especially loved the MOMO bath products in the shower. There was a single yellow stand under the sink that held towels. It provided a warm pop of color, which kept the bathroom from feeling cold.

4. The Downtown Location Is Ideal for Exploring

W Montréal has a convenient downtown location, offering easy access to public transportation, dining, and activities. It’s about a 25-minute drive from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and within easy walking distance to the city’s popular Old Town district and the convention center.

The hotel offers direct access to the Square-Victoria–OACI metro station. Guests can take the elevators down to the station without going outside, which is a huge plus when the weather isn’t great.

On our first full day, we strolled through the streets, taking in the art galleries and refueling with frequent stops for cappuccinos and pastries. I loved walking to the city’s historic Old Town district, where it’s easy to forget you’re in Canada and not a charming European town.

It was a little rainy, but we still enjoyed the views on La Grande Roue de Montréal, Canada’s tallest observation wheel. For dinner, we stopped by Le Central, a bustling market featuring 21 different dining options.

On our second day in Montréal, we took the elevator down to the subway station and headed to the Biodôme (not to be confused with the Montreal Biosphere, a completely different museum). This unique space is home to 5 different ecosystems featuring over 2,500 animals and 800 plant species. Next, we made our way up to the observation spot at the top of Mount Royal Park for excellent views of the city.

Hot Tip:

Looking for some fun activities in Montréal? Consider purchasing a Passeport MTL pass. It includes access to activities throughout the city with an average savings of 35%. We used it to access the big observation wheel and the Biodôme.

Final Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed my 3-night stay at the W Montréal in May 2026. The hotel’s downtown location, vivid design, and comfortable rooms made for a fantastic stay. Even better, it can be booked for as few as 43,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
