Right now, AARP members can take advantage of an opportunity to save 30% on “select stays” and earn a $50 gift card after spending at least $500 on eligible hotel stays or car rentals through the AARP Travel Center Powered by Expedia. This was first noticed by Frequent Miler.

To take advantage of the Mid-Year Sale, reservations must be made by July 13, 2026, and members must travel by December 15, 2026.

If you take advantage of this promotion and spend $500 or more on qualifying purchases, getting $50 back in the form of a gift card is equivalent to a 10% return. The gift card will be issued by Tango, a platform that allows you to choose from a huge catalog of merchants, including Airbnb, Best Buy, Bloomingdale’s, DoorDash, Lowe’s, Macy’s, and many more.

You can even choose prepaid cards from Visa and others, which is essentially like choosing cash.

Keep in mind, however, that if you do book through the AARP Travel Center, you do give up the ability to earn points and elite night credits and take advantage of elite perks, like you would if you booked a hotel stay directly — either with the hotel or through its parent chain . However, if you value those at less than $50, or if you want to book an independent property that doesn’t belong to a major chain, that may not be an issue. In fact, the $50 back may be the preferred option in many cases.
