As North America thaws slightly after the most recent big freeze, Air Canada has announced a slate of new routes to escape the freezing temperatures that will inevitably arrive next winter.

We can expect new routes to Ecuador and Mexico, schedule extensions on flights to Europe, and expanded service to cities in South America.

Shall we dive in?

Nonstop Flights to Quito, Ecuador

In early December, Canada will welcome its only nonstop flights to Quito (UIO), Ecuador’s high-altitude capital city, from both Montréal (YUL) and Toronto (YYZ).

The new seasonal service from Montréal will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays (returning the following day) from December 4 until March 27, 2027.

And from Toronto, the seasonal service will only operate once per week on Saturdays (returning Sundays) from December 5 to March 21, 2027.

Air Canada will send its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners to Quito, meaning business class passengers can enjoy lie-flat seats.

Flights aren’t currently loaded into Air Canada’s booking system, so we’ll have to wait a little longer to get a sense of pricing.

Winter Sunshine Flights From Calgary to Mexico

Also operating seasonally from December 2026 will be 2 new routes from Calgary (YYC) to Cancun (CUN) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) in Mexico.

Flights to Cancun will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from December 11 until April 11, 2027. And between Calgary and Puerto Vallarta, travelers can fly nonstop on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, from December 10 until April 10, 2027.

This time, Air Canada Rouge-operated Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will be used, similar to competitor WestJet, which also operates these routes.

South America in Focus

Flights to Bogotá, Colombia (BOG); Lima, Peru (LIM); Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (GIG), and Santiago, Chile (SCL) have proven successful for Air Canada — so much so that the carrier will increase service to each city next season.

The changes to each route from seasons 2025/26 to 2026/27 are as follows:

Airbus A321XLR Means Europe Flights Go Year-Round

It’s not just about winter sun escapes.

Air Canada will also extend its seasonal summer services from Toronto to Copenhagen (CPH) and Manchester (MAN) in the U.K. to continue through winter.

The winter Copenhagen service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (returning the next day) from October 27, 2026. And as for Manchester, flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays (also returning the next day) from October 25.

Air Canada will send its brand-new Airbus A321XLRs equipped with lie-flat seats to both cities.
