Beginning next year, passengers will no longer have to log off when departing on an Air Canada flight.

Air Canada has revealed plans to provide complimentary Wi-Fi on its North America and Sun flights starting in May 2025, and it hopes to introduce this service on long-haul international routes in 2026.

Additionally, the new service sponsored by Bell will be offered for free.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Air Canada To Add Free Wi-Fi Across Entire Fleet

Beginning in May 2025, Air Canada will start installing fast, complimentary, streaming-quality Wi-Fi sponsored by Bell across its entire fleet. Passengers will be able to access free Wi-Fi on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and the majority of Air Canada Express aircraft.

This service will first be available to Aeroplan members on aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi for flights within North America and the Canadian carrier’s Sun markets.

Air Canada’s Sun markets are popular leisure travel spots in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and select areas in the southern United States, such as Fort Lauderdale.

Once the Wi-Fi rollout for North American routes is nearly completed, the airline plans to expand its services to include international routes starting in 2026.

“Reliable access to streaming-quality Wi-Fi is becoming essential for both business and leisure travelers. That’s why we’re upgrading our fleet with the latest technologies,” said Executive Vice President, Marketing and Digital at Air Canada, and President of Aeroplan, Mark Nasr. “Air Canada plans to offer fast, free Wi-Fi across its entire fleet and will begin rolling out this service in early Spring.”

Nasr also states, “Over 85% of aircraft will be connected from day one, with the remaining installations being a priority throughout 2025.”

Air Canada added live TV in 2023 with the introduction of a satellite-powered IFE solution for customers on select Air Canada flights. Soon after, the airline began offering free messaging to Aeroplan members on all of its planes equipped with onboard Wi-Fi.

Now, the airline’s goal of providing free Wi-Fi throughout its entire fleet by 2026 indicates its commitment to improving the passenger experience for its customers.
