Update:

In August 2025, Alaska Airlines changed its program from Mileage Plan to Atmos Rewards, which earns points instead of miles, and released new credit cards. Therefore, some of the information below may no longer be accurate.

Alaska Airlines is looking forward to winter with the addition of 2 new Mexican sunshine destinations.

The new nonstop services from Los Angeles (LAX) are to La Paz (LAP) and Monterrey (MTY).

“We recently celebrated 35 years of service to Mexico and are proud to connect travelers with the rich culture and natural beauty of the country,” said Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines. “We look forward to continuing to serve as the carrier of choice from the West Coast, especially as we prepare to start service to these popular destinations in Mexico.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Alaska’s new routes from L.A. to Mexico.

Fly From LAX to La Paz and Monterrey This Winter

Alaska Airlines is cementing its reputation as the airline with the most flights to Mexico from the West Coast.

This coming winter, the airline will introduce 2 new services from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) — an important hub airport for the airline.

The first flight to La Paz will take flight on November 20 with the second new route to Monterrery launching later in the season on February 13, 2025.

Alaska will be the only U.S. airline serving the coastal city of La Paz in Baja California.

“We appreciate Alaska Airlines’ confidence in investing in the virtues of La Paz and providing it with the opportunity to expand its borders by connecting with the United States,” said Maribel Collins, minister of tourism and economy of Baja California Sur.

Furthermore, when service to Monterrey starts next year, Alaska will be the only airline offering nonstop service to Monterrery — Mexico’s second largest city after Mexico City.

Tickets for the new routes will go on sale in the afternoon of July 3.

Hot Tip:

Rather than using your hard-earned cash to book Alaska Airlines flights, the airline’s Atmos Rewards loyalty program gives you the option of redeeming points instead. If you don’t have enough points, consider using a travel credit card like the Atmos™ Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® card, which would earn you 3 Atmos Rewards points per $1 spent on Alaska flights.

Final Thoughts

Alaska’s new routes to Mexico will certainly be welcomed by travelers wishing to spend some time in the sunshine this winter.

That’s true not just for those living in L.A. but equally for passengers elsewhere who can easily connect through L.A. on Alaska’s route network, continuing onward with these new flights.
