We’re about halfway through the year already (that’s scary to think about), and Alaska Airlines is already looking ahead to its winter schedule.

The Seattle-based airline has announced a total of 3 new routes that will shuttle travelers between popular destinations:

  • Palm Springs (PSP) to New York (JFK)
  • Portland, Oregon (PDX) to Miami (MIA)
  • San Luis Obispo (SBP) to Las Vegas (LAS)

“We believe our guests are going to love these new nonstops,” said Kirsten Amrine, Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning at Alaska Airlines. “We continue to see strong demand by travelers who want to go to leisure destinations and are already planning trips for next year.”

This exciting news comes on the same day that the airline launches service for the first time from San Diego (SAN) to Eugene (EUG) and Washington-Dulles (IAD).

Let’s take a look at the details of each new route!

Palm Springs to New York

From December 14, 2023, through April 22, 2024, New Yorkers will be able to leave the cold and dark winter far behind by flying Alaska Airlines nonstop between JFK and Palm Springs.

The seasonal service will operate daily during peak travel periods and will decrease to 5 weekly flights in the off-peak season.

Portland to Miami

Alaska will serve Miami for the first time as of November 17, 2023, when it launches nonstop flights from Portland. It’ll also be the only nonstop service between the 2 cities, possibly making this transcontinental route the most exciting of the 3 new routes.

The service will operate year-round on a daily basis with the following schedule:

The final addition is also the shortest of the new routes. The 314-mile seasonal hop from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas will operate from December 14, 2023, through April 10, 2024.

The route, which will be the only nonstop service connecting the 2 cities, will operate with the following schedule:

Final Thoughts

Alaska Airlines’ 3 new routes will certainly provide more travel opportunities this winter — especially given the fact that the airline has chosen city pairs that are underserved, or not served at all.
