Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Alaska Airlines’ latest promotion is definitely different from a typical sale. You’ll need to buy a flight today — which means time is short — and doing so will get you 30% off your next flight in the future.

There are some important terms to understand with this offer. Since the clocking is ticking, let’s jump in.

Alaska Airlines ‘Book Now, Get 30% off Later’ Sale

Alaska Airlines is running a promotion that requires you to book a flight today, February 25, 2025, in order to save money on a future trip. If you meet the following conditions, you’ll receive a 30% off discount code (to be received in April):

  • Book a round-trip flight on February 25, 2025
  • Depart between February 25 and March 31, 2025
  • Complete your round-trip travel by April 15, 2025

Unfortunately, this offer isn’t available for trips starting in Oregon or Alaska. This sale only applies to flights operated by Alaska Airlines and booked directly at Alaskaair.com, and flights booked using miles aren’t eligible. There’s no promo code needed for this sale.

You must add your Mileage Plan number to the booking at the time of purchase. If you do all of this, you’ll receive a 30% discount code in late April. This code will be valid for travel between August 20 and November 20, 2025.

Note that the cheapest flights from Alaska Airlines are booked as Alaska Airlines Saver fares when you pay cash. This is the airline’s version of basic economy, so you’ll pay extra for checked bags and choosing your preferred seat. Saver fares cannot be changed but are eligible for a 50% flight credit when canceled at least 14 days before departure.

Hot Tip:

Consider booking your flight with an Alaska Airlines co-branded credit card to earn up to 3x miles on your purchase. Additional benefits of an Alaska Airlines credit card include an annual companion pass and 20% off inflight purchases.

Is It Worth It?

If you were planning on booking a trip with Alaska Airlines soon, booking it today could help you save money on a future flight. But it’s worth considering the hoops you need to jump through to take advantage of this deal.

Not everyone needs to book a flight today, and the eligible travel dates span the next month and a half. Do you need to travel within those dates, and is Alaska Airlines your cheapest option?

You may consider the future discount worth the effort of booking a trip today. You could purchase a round-trip ticket between San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX) in basic economy for $126.60 after taxes.

Would you save more than $126.60 on a future flight using the 30% off code? If so, booking a flight today could be worth it. You’ll need to do the math for your situation.

Final Thoughts

This is an interesting sale from Alaska Airlines, promising a future discount if you book a flight today. You’ll need to jump through several hoops — and have a need for flights in the next few weeks plus flights over the next few months — to make this deal worth it.

If this sounds good to you, remember that you need to book a round-trip flight today, February 25.
